That's a weight weenie seat on a full weight weenie build, probably weighs 90g. The cycling equivalent of a stanced ricer mobile. Total form over function. Whole forums dedicated to stupid light builds that are nearly unrideable they flex and mis-shift so much, owned by guys who don't actually ride much. You are making the cycling newb mistake of worshipping false idols.

What looks badass is a genuine pro bike. Scratches, odd stickers, pedal tops polished from hard use, tiny zip ties in odd places because that's what works and a cycling computer that displays some absurd average speed for the last ride.

 

He could still shed a few grams by going with downtube shifters, no bar tape and shorter valves on his tubes. And the Edge sticker has to weigh something. I do like that bike stand.

 

And do you really NEED a rear brake?

I just saw it on the "bike ****" tumblr which is a mix of **** and bicycles, lol. I hardly give two ***** about this bicycle, although I do like the idea of a decent, $250 aluminum frame. Just because I posted a pic of it doesn't mean I like it, the same way I can look at a picture of a car in drift-mode doesn't mean I'm going to go lengthen tie-rod spindles on the green Miata. Granted, I'm very green to cycling, my bicycles are all function first, utilitarian, and affordable. I ride what is basically the biggest bang for the buck on the market, half the bike is 105 and the other half is Ultegra, and I ride wheels that everyone makes fun of because they were cheap; they also happen to be one of the best performers, most durable, and were dirt cheap among bicycle wheels. I now have one scratch, some electrical tape, polished pedal parts, and a zippied light. Can I please be moderately cool now?

It looks like the saddle could go up, inside his body. I believe this is popular with the tri-athletes.

 

Absolutely. It helps stabilize and brake the bike, the same way a car does. It's also most useful in the rain.

 

what $250 aluminum frame IS that and where do I find info on it.

 

I realize this trey. But if you were going to be a super weight weenie would you ditch it? Between the brake lever, the cable, and the caliper there's some good weight there to only loose ~30% of your braking ability.

I saw it a shitload cheaper in other places. Nashbar and Pricepoint once had $99 aluminum frames that I was going to buy after the crash, but both were sold out.

I was going to buy that frame instead of the CAAD10, but everyone was sold out. I believe that's the same frame I had on my first bike. It wasn't bad, but liquified my insides a bit and flexed like a ************ compared to my CAAD10, which is probably not $850 better.

 

Not "mine", I'm not a "weight weenie" by any stretch, nor do I have the income to buy such things as a light bicycle.

Checking the local f/s adds there is a CAAD9 fs for $1,000. not sure of the component set on it, but its sure a lot cheaper than putting one together.

Well, my logic for anything weight related is to consider how much my bicycle "carry weighs:
tiny multi-tool, two tubes, lever, patch kit, two cans, phone, two bananas, a candybar, and one liter of water. I'm pretty sure that I should have paid $3000 instead of $500 for my current set of wheels to save 200g.

All this talk of weight weenie ****, I weighed my front and rear wheel assemblies and they are a hefty 1471g front and 2005g rear.

Thats just taken off the bike with the skewers removed (those are 104g each)

Broken down more Im finding if I swaped from 27" oldschool wheel to a more modern 700c custom build with bikehubstore parts I should be able to shave 3lbs of rotating mass off the bike.

I would assume that would completely change how the bike rides.... LOL

 

Time to get Enve tubulars, then you can ride in the doctor group.
