rode my carbon bike to work today, but in doing so had to move my wifes bike to get mine out.

apparently 28c Continental Ultra Sports are the same width as the tires I have.... which are hard to find information on.

Im on specialized pro2 23/25c tires.

In years past, there was a lot of false advertizing on tire width. If you made a 23, but called it 25, you had the lightest 25 on the market, etc. These days manufacturers tend to be more accurate.

However, the same tire on a wider rim will also be wider (rim width is part of the total circumference and width is circumference / Pi (assuming the system takes a round shape, which is close enough).

I went to a technical lecture (read: sales presentation) by Cervelo last week (also read: free beer was provided) and one of the comments the engineer leading the talk made was that the widest 25c tire they had measured was 28.6mm wide.

nothing makes you ride faster for longer than seeing rain coming behind you.

then once your wet, your still rushing to get home.

I got soaked on my ride home tonight, didnt strava it-but i should have. 7km only took another 3 minutes than normal compared to my best time getting home in my car.... and i had to wait for some lights even on my bike.

splitting stopped traffic for 3 blocks while they were crawling (stupid drivers cant handle rain) and all.

They had an R5 on display with Di2. Nine thousand dollars, and the first thing I would do is spend another 2k++ on wheels. Egads.

Come train in Vancouver. It will make you hard like Svein Tuft.

I have permanent nerve damage in my fingers and toes from training winters in the rain.

I am in the process of converting my 29er to 1x9. Do I want one of the fancy, gold, lightweight KMC chains or is a regular XTR/SRAM 971 better for simlilar money?

Not worth it for that Allez. New it can't be over $800.

I won a KMC XLSLXLSV (or whatever) TiN ("gold") coated chain and I really like it. Lasted forever. Shifted well. Only looked "gold" for about 5 min after cleaning it.

Haha! Good to know. I threw a spare powerlink on an old road chain I had in the box to get it rideable for now. I foresee "for now" being "until something else wears out", which will probably be my non-clutch rear derailleur.

Broke my second Dura-Ace chain for the season. Ruined another ride.

They both broke at one of the links, not at the pin or quicklink. I've installed 100's of chains with no problems. Two different bikes, two different setups. I'll call them tomorrow.

That's kinda what I was thinking. Used $5k bikes under $2k all day long on CL.

just go to see if with a wad of cash. make it (the wad) look big, so have a mix of 10's and 20's.

You will walk with the bike for probably $450 if you hold the cash out.*
