Another one from the same shop?

Thread sidejack since it's pretty much dead nyways--

I wonder if you can dump some type of powder or colored substance into your intake that won't **** up your engine. If that existed, you could dump it in, do a pull, then remove the manifold and see where the air actually flowed. I suppose you could just pour carbon from your tailpipe in there..

you would use a flow bench, that way you don't eff up your engine.

No we are not dead, and we will eventually get to the Miata manifold that is already started. We have just been busy filling the Honda orders and fighting the old man sam to machine on parts that have no order yet (ie miata manifold)

Below I will post up my updates:

A collection of pictures taken today

7.4L BFM on the left and 5.0L Stage 2 on the right. That is 105mm TB on left and 90mm TB on right

Both of these have a 7" primary and setup for motors roughly 2.0L in volume and revving to 10-11k rpm

And here are a few pictures to demonstrate the modular setup:

Be sure to lubricate all orings with wd40 or engine building grease to insure you do not tear them as you install the runners^^

BTW I think "7.4L Stage 3 Plenum" the name is weaksauce.... I am highly considering calling it Code Name: Big Daddy or BFM
BFM is what I like best at the moment

Here you go... Now you don't have to ask me if we have cfd tested the manifold

Here are individual flow paths in the stage 2 manifold as it sets now without being full radius air horns (we are working to fix that)

Shown in sequential order based on 1-3-4-2 firing order of the motor:

14.7psi Throttlebody to 20inches of mercury port 1 air temp 68.09F
Maximum Velocity in/s 10973.3

14.7psi Throttlebody to 20inches of mercury port 3 air temp 68.09F
Maximum Velocity in/s 10891.4

14.7psi Throttlebody to 20inches of mercury port 4 air temp 68.09F
Maximum Velocity in/s 11185.9

14.7psi Throttlebody to 20inches of mercury port 2 air temp 68.09F
Maximum Velocity in/s 10731.5

I will post up the reversion flow paths now that show the air path from port to port as they bounce off the valves.

Ok here are the reversion airflow paths. This is showing what happens to the air after it hits the closed valve and gets sucked into the cylinder with the open valve.

14.7psi port1 to 20inches of mercury port 3 air temp 68.09F
Maximum Velocity in/s 8982.35

14.7psi port3 to 20inches of mercury port 4 air temp 68.09F
Maximum Velocity in/s 9589.86

14.7psi port4 to 20inches of mercury port 2 air temp 68.09F
Maximum Velocity in/s 8680.29

14.7psi port2 to 20inches of mercury port 1 air temp 68.09F
Maximum Velocity in/s 8696.74

Those honda manifolds look really good.

It's like looking at a really really sexy giraffe. So good looking, so tempting, but so unobtainable and irrelevant.

Remind me again how this is directly relevant to my life?

Someone please come up with an ots IM with a choice of a few powerband ranges for our B6/BPxx heads, mmmmkkkkaay? I will pay decent money and be willing to test a few if it helps. I really really want something by this time next year, built, tested, proven, etc.

It certainly looks that way. I'd love to give that a shot and run staged injection .

blame wayne_curr for linking images over from BMCrace.com and then having them being so bored that they googled/tracked the links backs and started shilling over here.

I think savington actually had something to do with that as well...?

I like to put question marks on statements.

Yeah, no kidding. It's really exciting, and yes, seeing that someone has looked at the flows is MUCH MUCH better than "I did something I thought looked good in my garage". I'd really be in the market for one for a late model 1.8l miata.

It'd be nice if the TB pointed towards the outside of the car so I don't need 15 more bends in my intercooler piping. Or, have it bend down? :-)
