a stock mustang TB is 65mm, but i'd imagine you could cut the flange for one of the larger aftermarket versions and it wouldnt make any difference. (assuming the bolt pattern is the same.) i dont think many people here really NEED much larger than a 65mm throttle body, considering most of us are running stock ~54mm throttles...

It's hard to say. I don't think anyone has flow tested the throttle and intake manifold seperately to see which is the restriction at X horsepower.
The 65mm should flow about 45% better than the 54...
But again, without empirical testing, it's impossible to draw any conclusions. Could the people that have the programs that simulated the air flow in the manifolds give this a shot maybe?

In my experience, the Ford TBs have the weakest clock-spring in the world. So two things can happen, one the throttle doesn't close fast/good, and two it's so light that if your car bounces if pretty ridiculous when you end up stabbing the pedal.
I also still think a 60mm honda TB would be worlds above a 54mm stock TB. Not only is 60mm a 20% larger flow area, the shaft, from the factory, is designed to have flat edges and are less 'obtrusive' than the miata's shaft, providing even more flow area. Not to mention they are cheap as hell, can be ported for cheap at maxbore.com, you can go for a 65mm ITR TB, and they should come with idle vales, linkage, and TPSs that you can utilize easily.

I'm thinking of buying an ebay im and modify the flange. What is your opinion?
The cost is extremely low if you consider that for a custom aluminum manifold here in Greece costs 600-700 dollars.
I am sure that I havent reinvented the wheel but it's an idea for the low budget bitches.

If yall would like that as a very budget option I can do that for yall.
Just send me what ever manifold you would like mounted to the miata head flange (either you supply or we can supply the head flange) and we can cut, weld, and even do the final port work if yall would like. For a very straight forward cut off the honda manifold weld it to a miata flange would cost $200 shipped back to you (not including the cost of the flange). You could use your factor Miatas head flange vs buying one of ours as well to save even more.
I am all about budget and finding a nice niche that works good for everyone. If I can provide a service that is a nice alternative then it does good for both of us.

Those are 9" runners and, on the honda, probably makes the best power at 4000-7000, anything shorter probably makes best power at 7000-10000. You'll also need to cut off a few good inches, and if you fit it to a 1.6L flange, you'll need to cut the runners off leaving about 3" of stock runners so factor that in.

The runner length on our Miata 1.6L manifold are 9.5", we are really trying to get yall some good mid range power.
