very true, and amazing isnt it? I have a shitload of buddies rolling on srt4's and as far as power/dollar ratio, the srt4 is pretty much near impossible to beat. badass little car, has power out the ***, can be made stupid fast with fairly little invested, but couple problems:
1) its fail wheel drive (like the rest of them but still)
2) its a dodge: it looks like ****, the interior is a joke, the quality is a joke
if u can live with ugly *** looks, front wheel drive, and the shittiest interior this side of a geo metro: the car IS AWESOME

Hmmm... I'm gonna call bullshit on that MS3 dyno.
A stock Mazdaspeed3 dynos at 230-240whp and 250-260wtq. Those are the universal accepted numbers you should expect from a properly operated dynojet. An extra 5psi, tp, and airbox are not going to get you an exta 100ftlbs of torque. Not possible. And since torque is supposed to be the constant, I just don't know what to make of that graph.
****, Corky and CP-e can't make that kind of power with more bolt-ons and a full-control piggyback and this dude can do it? Who's kidding who?
Looks like another dyno-operator giving the customer exactly what he wanted to see.

id like to see what said car ran at the track, that would show what kinda numbers that car really put down..hell, there's even a calculator for that sort of thing.

notice that nowhere in my post did i mention money? thats because I wasnt comparing that. I knew you'd bring this up, and it IS a valid point, however:
a 2007 mazda miata retails roughly mid to high 20's correct? I believe so
now take a 2006 mitsubishi evo rs for example:
it will absolutely DEMOLISH the mazda in pretty much any test, and costs roughly the same......whats my point? both cars are completely different, and buying one over the other simply relies on what you're looking for in a car: not their performance numbers since one is turbo awd and powerful, and the other n/a rwd and pretty much weak as hell.

I do agree it is a little unfair to have a civic SI vs a MS3 but now days people care about cars in a price bracket more then based on the same driveline or motor class.

AGREED. But while posted dyno numbers are sketchy, I say "WHO CARES?" a dyno is a tool, and nothing but....people that post dyno graphs to prove the length of their e-***** prove nothing......go to the track, run a time, THEN post the slip of time or MORE IMPORTANTLY: THE TRAP SPEED....cause just like you said, a dyno can be made to show any goddamn numbers the operator wants it to, and these chumps drive home thinking they gained all that power and torque lol...

You're talking about 2 different types of car enthusiasts here. WE, or guys who do a lot of their own work and tuning, know exactly what a dyno is for. THEY, or guys who write checks to shops CARE GREATLY about what a dyno-chart says. The fact that you or I know the difference is irrelevant to what they think when they walk away with that paper.
The guy who started that thread was a shop-owner. Shops make money by getting people in the door. You get people in the door by making more power than other shops for less money. Guys who buy SRT-4's or MS3's are looking for bang-for-the-buck. If your shop claims they can make 100ftlbs for $300, then you're gonna get a lot of business.
In addition to being blissfully ignorant when driving away from the dyno, your average check-writer never have their car on a track of any kind, nor will they care that they'll never have their car on the track.
They'll show up with cash in hand for parts and service... and then they'll get sent across the street to the dyno and go home with a slip of paper that says tells them how much power they made. Guys like that don't know about a dyno only being a "tool". But to a shop-owner, the dyno becomes a tool for him TO MAKE MONEY!!!

Dude the evo is a 35K+ car. It is no where in the same price bracket as a Miata, sorry to bust you bubble.

once again, I wasnt too clear on which evo, this is EXACTLY what im talking about. an evo rs can be had around here from 22-25k. thanx for clarifying

There's something you're missing.

QUOTED FOR THE MOTHERFUCKING TRUTH!!!!!!!!!!!!
this is exactly why a local subaru performance shop locally hates my guts. they charge upwards of ******* 300-600+ dollars to "protune" and give the person a peice of paper that says their car is fast now. the people around here that are poor/broke, come over to my house, I reflash/fine tune their car for like 50 bux, and help them out..then everyone goes to the track and runs the same times hahahahahhahahhah...the look on the face of the idiot that shelled out all that money for a weak *** tune just to run dead even with a guy that spent 50 bux is priceless...it keeps me doing what I do...hell, most of the stage 1, 2, etc flashes i do for free...

I have been reading up a bit on these new turbo cobalts, and looks to me like they are a great little car.....chassis is very well set up for a fwd, interior if not great is acceptable, the turbo ecotec definitely has good power/torque, and launch control and wot shifting STOCK is a very nice feature.....so far the car is an A+ in my book..

I did a little homework on another forum... here's what I found. Check POST#8. The poster is one of the big players in the MS6 world... worked with CPe to crack the code on the MZR engine. They can now do some basic flashing (including defeating the throttle-plate closure curve).

As I said, that dyno run is bullshit.
