If I remember right, many buffers are 2 piece units, with a press fit pin holding them together. Ensure that the pin hasn't drifted from the buffer and was getting caught coming in/out.

so can someone explain to me in plain words how a "tax stamp" works? Do I only buy once and get all I want registered on that, or do I have to pay 200 dollars everytime I want something really cool?

With all this suppressor talk I want a real one for my GSG-522

You pay the tax stamp for each item.

thank you, for some freakin reason I keep getting confused on what happens.

So I do count on adding 200 bucks and a few weeks of waiting on top of initial costs, cool.

...also considering on buying the full auto vector down at the gun store, but thats about 1200 bucks more than the GSG-5 suppressor.

Yup, which is why the usual advice is to never go low-budget for NFA items, given that you're paying $200 each time, and transferring it is not exactly hassle-free. Save up and get the best you can reasonably afford.

Also note that if the same weapon has more than one NFA feature (let's say, a SBR with an integrated suppressor), you're going to pay a tax stamp for each feature (in that case $400). Full-auto SBR with an integrated suppressor? $600 in tax stamps.

For info, the $200 tax-stamp has been that much money since 1934. That makes $3400 in todays dollars... so if you're a study of firearms law and history, we're currently getting steal.

Your local Class3 guy, who actually does the filing for you can walk you through the whole process. Even if you don't go the trust route, you should investigate it so you know what you're getting into. For the cost of a .22lr suppressor, there's really no reason to go through the cost of of a trust, especially if your CLEO is 2A friendly.

Also, there was a rumor awhile back that the BATFE was going to hire more Class3 inspectors. I've read multiple threads in several forums that indicate they have hired and began training 10 "assistant inspectors" who are technically not gov't employees due to the BATFE being under a hiring freeze. Current wait times for a stamp are 6-8months. I've heard several places that the goal of the new hires and a "streamlined process" was to get the wait down to 30 days by x-mas. The November election will undoubtedly cause a huge ripple one way or another in the firearms industry through the holidays and well into next year. If you want a suppressor, I suggest you get started on it now, and not wait until there's a rush or some other craziness.

Here's a good thread:

which is why my can will be pinned to the 10.5" 300blk barrel - don't want to have to SBR it...
Jeremy - also, a "few" weeks is more like 24 weeks at a minimum.

They're still crooks and collecting money for something they really have no right to regulate. I engaged in this argument on failbook lastnight with some left-leaning retard that posted some "If you vote for Romney you're voting to take away all women's rights!" garbage. She apparently got pretty offended when I pointed out that they (leftists) are taking away my 2nd Amendment rights slowly and stated that "Not everyone on the 'left' is attacking 2nd Amendment rights. Some only want more safeguards put in place to keep those that have lost those rights because of breaking the law or hurting people from being able to get them."

Excellent argument. Not.

If I had a stand in the issue (Which I do not..) my argument would be as follows: Some people believe that 'life begins at conception' which makes abortion (which was the point of her arguments) murder just the same as a firearm killing someone.

She was upset because everyone doesn't agree with her "woman's rights" view points putting them in front of their belief and values, however doesn't have a problem to squelch out something that is equally important to ME as "woman's health" is to her. What seemed to enrage her even further was after I pointed out her "woman's health" issue isn't even protected under the Articles of the Constitution like my 2A issue is, and wasn't even until 1973 that some Justices wrote 'law' about it. (Roe v. Wade)

I digress.

I need one in 9mm still. I kept all my little upgrades from when I sold my .40.

how light is one of those kel tecs? I have yet to see and hold one in person. I like my SU-16 but it tends to get awkwardly heavy. Thinking about trading it in for one of those.

I'm not sure if Keltec is the most f'ed up firearms manufacturer or the most brilliant. You'd think that if the demand for a particular product is extremely high, you'd want to produce as many of them as you can, or limit production to keep demand high, but not enough so that it raises the price too much (so people can still buy them).

Instead, they put their efforts into the effing ridiculous shotgun thing, mess up half of the PMR30's, can't bring the RMR-30 to market (which has like a 100,000 person long waiting list), and won't tell anybody anything.

The list price of Sub 2k's is $409.
As little as 12 months ago, you could find them at any gunshow for $300 or online for even less.
Currently, you're lucky to find one on Gunbroker for less than $500, and they usually go for $600 or more... and good luck getting your FFL to consider taking a deposit for one because NOBODY CAN GET THEM.

I would buy a 9mm Glock version right this instant if I could find one for $300, like you should be able to... but Keltec just can't bring any to market.

My only other issue is the price of the aftermarket stuff. Assuming you could find one for $400, it's another $200-$300 for the little bits to make it comfortable, a rail, a grip, and at least one real capacity magazine. At that point, you've probably lost the folding capability and are more than the cost of a 9mm AR15.

Since all my guns are tools and not toys, this one fits the niche of being the ultimate BOB weapon. A Glock on my hip for quick reaction, and a Sub2000 with quick-detach scope folded up within arms reach. But for $600-$700, I'll just buy an AR.

So I got bored in the work shop - so decided to work on the function of my supressed GSG5 - got it working some what. Needs more tweaking... dead freezers make excellent bullet traps! Next time video...

PURCHASED

These came back in stock at Budspolicesupply this morning. I had an email notification set up. They'd been out of stock for about 2 months.

S&W M&P15 5.56 Optics Ready Carbine for Sale at Buds Gun Shop $753.00

I pissed and moaned for about the past year over buying an AR. Either build one from scratch, buy an upper/lower separately, or buy a complete rifle. After actually buying a New Frontier Armory complete lower and selling it, I convinced myself that a complete rifle was my best choice, and started looking. Of course there are complete $400 uppers everywhere you look, and it's easy to build a lower for $200 complete, but I wanted better quality than I was finding along those lines, and a complete gun.

This S&W is $753 shipped, and I get the mil rebate of $100, so $653 total +$20 FFL fee.. I've been homeworking for months, and this has been the best deal on an AR that I can find that does everything for me.

I'm pretty sure I want a Primary Arms micro-dot... or something of similar function/quality/price for now. I'll grab some flip-up BUIS around x-mas time or whatever. Gotta get a few mags too.

Or CA. I hate this thread, but I keep coming back to drool

I'm up to 3 AR15 and 1 DPMS style AR10 lowers. I'm going to sit on them until this Leyland Yee bullshit blows over. Now that you can't TOUCH a lower in CA simply due to avalibility, I've got my brother and a coworker clawing at me to sell.
