Thats the problem, they know this. It is just one step in the process of disarming of America. They don't care about the gang bangers killing each other, they are getting scared of the law biding citizens amassing arsenals to protect their constitutional rights.

I had the same idea about teachers having the option to Carry concealed at school. I think it should be voluntary, only administration would have the right to know, and they would have to follow a law enforement training, qualification, and requalification protocol.

Of course teachers should have the option of carrying concealed... the problem comes when parents learn that a teacher at school is carrying. It would be virtually impossible to keep it a secret.

The first parent who gave the teacher a hug, or some observant person who saw a print, or a parent who demanded to know if their kids teacher was armed, would make it impossible to keep a secret who was and wasn't carrying. Those few individuals who did try and carry in the classroom would be easy targets for the anti-gun parents and other teachers who didn't agree. It would be horrible. And I can't even begin to imagine the fallout from a negligent discharge in the classroom.

However, concealed is concealed... if I was a teacher, you bet your ass I'd be carrying. An NA Arms 22mag revolver on my person and a .223 pistol in the classroom... I'd find a way.

I'm thinking, "So if these people were not able to obtain guns to commit these crimes, would they commit them with another weapon such as a knife or axe?" I tend to think they would find another weapon. And while a knife or axe is certainly not as physically easy to use as a gun and doesn't have the range, it is silent and cannot run out of ammo. Therefore, I think a knife (in this school situation, but probably not in the Aurora situation) is almost if not just as deadly. Maybe people in general need to be watched more for psychotic behavior. I could probably kill more people with my car than my AR-15. We live in an age of technology and a lot of the things we use can be used to harm people.

I have a couple of examples that are not really relevant, except for the fact that it's about guns.

I have several pistols. 2 are black powder. One is a replica of a single shot, muzzle loader "pirate" pistol, that was purchased as a kit. I mail-ordered it, from Sportsman's Guide. I have assembled it, but never loaded or fired it. .32 caliber, in case anyone cares.

The other is a replica .44 caliber "new army" as was used in the civil war. It was also mail-ordered. I have loaded and fired it many times. One of the springs broke (a leaf spring that aligns the cylinder with the barrel, called the index spring), so it sits in the bottom of the gun cabinet. Someday I'll get around to making a new spring.

The third is a Derringer kit that I purchaed via an ad in the back of a magazine. It contained a bunch of forged/machined parts (barrel, trigger, etc.) and (2) 1/4" thick plates of steel which are the frame. I had a guy at work rough out the shapes for me, and hand filed the rest. It shoots a single .45 long colt or a .410 shotshell. It has never been finished, and so never fired. It would be east to conceal in a pocket.

None of these guns are strictly legal in NY. I do not have my NYS pistol permit at this time. But I had no problem obtaining them. I also bought a long gun (Marlin 9mm Camp Carbine) at the time I was under indictment for DUI. I bought the gun in another town, but it was still within NYS.

Now, I'm no angel. I've been arrested quite a number of times, including once - that I'm sure is not on my record - for assault. I've lost my driver's license multiple times, including 2 for DUI. But I'm not really what you'd consider the criminal underworld. I'm a family man, own a house, have a great credit score, and am gainfully employed. I have had no problem getting guns, ever. If that is the case, someone who out-and-out is breaking the law, intends to commit a crime or is slightly unhinged probably has no problems getting weapons, either. This is NY, which has the toughest gun laws in the nation. No full auto, "assault weapon" ban still in effect. No carry in NYC at all.

So, how are any new laws supposed to have any affect on the problem?

I will be either ordering an ar-15 or one of the core15 lowers with recent statements from the white house.

Guess I'll have to get some ammo now.

Core 15 is sold-out.

I sold one of my lowers to my brother last month. I now regret this decision.

The stripped lowers are sold out, the lower + lpk is still in stock.

I'm pretty tempted to order one. My only AR is on a Plum Crazy polymer lower.

Couldn't help myself. Ordered one. If this is the only AR I can have for a while, I don't want to be stuck with a polymer lower.

And once I have the Core 15 lower built and swapped, I can use the Plum Crazy for a .22 upper (or maybe a 5.45 upper for cheap surplus ammo).

I wonder if all this fun stuff will just make the one AR I have for sale more valuable :p
