Heyos... keep an eye out for me for a reasonably priced 21" 12gauge Remington 870 barrel, vent rib and threaded for chokes please.

Avoid Ceiner kits.

Look for a Marvel Unit 2 (regular 1911 sized slide) or Marvel Unit 1 (long slide with target barrel and sights). Both are more accurate than you're ever be, will run reliably with quality .22 ammo, and are backed by a solid company with good customer service.

Yeah, the Ceiner kits were probably good at one point, but I've read lots of badness about them recently (last 5 years or so.) I'll take a look at the Marvel.
On a related not, someone offered to trade me an honest to god Colt Ace for my Ruger GP100 years ago. Had I only known...

2 3/4" I'd imagine? Does it have to be new/factory, or just used/serviceable? Gunsmith friend has a pile of stuff, I'll see if he has what your looking for. Last time I needed an 1100 barrel, he just pulled it out of the closet and gave it to me.

I had a Colt Ace upper for a while. It's...interesting. It's not particularly accurate, it's a bit finicky with ammo, it has a floating chamber intended to replicate the longer recoil pulse of a .45, and it requires frequent cleaning to run reliably (mostly because of the floating chamber and the dirtiness of .22 rimfire ammo).

In short, it's a cool piece of engineering and history...but not what I'd choose if I was just wanting a way to use .22 ammo in my 1911.

Why 21"? Midway will have stuff like this on sale from time to time.

I believe 3" can work also in my gun. Its a early 60s Wingmaster, so I think the body can handle 3". 2 3/4 works just fine though. It has the larger magazine tube loop also.... can fit a quarter through it (was informed newer can't).

Just needs to work. I want to use it for 3gun fun.

Happy medium of lengths that is around the "ideal" for the 3gun stuff.

Put 250 rounds through my 9mm LoneWolf conversion barrel in a G22 today. Got some great lulz and strange looks from people with the flash hider and my 'backpack carbine' sporting 33 round magazines. :D

Conversion barrel ran like a swiss watch. Only hiccup was the last round of each magazine would stovepipe, but I suspect that's because of either my light loads (115gr lead bullet w/3 grains of Red Dot) and might be a little because of the magazine. Noticed when you get up to the last few rounds the spring is pretty soft so the follower doesn't hit slide release in time for it to lock open.

Far as my Sub2000 goes, I wish it had a last round hold because it does the same thing.... Only problem is the bolt is so fuggin heavy it smashes my empty casing.

That's what your mom says.

Joey P-nasty used to be up in that shiet. He has the amulet to prove it, too. He showed me a pic once -- it was wrapped around his meatbat.

Traded my CZ vz52, two mags and 100 rounds ammo (had $116 total in the gun/ammo) for a Ruger 10/22 today. Came with the stock 10 round mag, two 30 round banana mags (promags with metal lips), and 1000 rounds of ammo. I've been thinking about putting a new stock and bull barrel on mine but didn't want to take the gun down for long (I shoot ~1000 rounds a week though it) and didn't want to mess up my gun that looked and shot so nice already. This will give me some parts to play with so I can build something special.

Missed out on a fantastic deal yesterday on a 5.5 pound Keltec SU16 .223 with a broken receiver. The guy only wanted $200 for it (lifetime warranty from Keltec) but I contacted him about 30 minutes too late. Would have been and interesting rifle to play with for $400 off normal price.

FU@K!!! That SU16 would've been tits.. I won't ever own one though, they cost way too much for what it is..

Sounds like you got a great deal on that Ruger! I've been wanting a 10/22 for a while, haven't found a deal on one yet.

Don't know if I've posted it or not, (don't really care right now..) but my absolute favorite gun cost me $40 in trade:

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-D...0/IMG_7904.jpg

1970s Marlin Glenfield Model 60 that came with the "TV screen" Scope. Swapped out that scope for a cheap burris 3.5-10x40 mildot I had laying around. I can't believe how accurate this old ass rifle is considering it's age and care! I've yet to clean any part of it and neither did the previous owner. It got to the point last week where it wouldn't go into battery after chambering a new round, so I squirted a little gun butter on the bolt and it's business as usual again!! I've put almost 10k rounds through it in the last year, runs like a swiss car... :D Effing LOVE .22lrs!!

Gotta love a lifetmie warranty they'll honor.. It's like a kia, only not a piece of trash from Korea.. :D

EO2K 03-26-2012 02:33 PM

Is that Glenfield 60 the one with the barrel that's roll-pinned to the receiver?

Yep, Model 60s are.

EO2K 03-26-2012 04:41 PM

I grew up shooting that exact same gun! It belonged to my grandfather and he's the one that taught me to shoot, rest of the family is not exactly gun-friendly. It DIAFF when I lost my place in '08, that's probably the only thing I regret not saving from the house.

elesjuan 03-26-2012 05:54 PM

That's sad. I have no historical attachment to mine, just love the damn thing to death and really surprised how accurate it is. Even with no historical or emotional attachment I'd still hate to lose that one..

Midwayusa.com has hogue Handall's on sale for like $5.99 each:

Picked up a Jr for my PF9 which makes it a lot more fun to shoot:

The grip on my Sub 2000 is slightly less than perfect feeling, this helped a LOT. Gimme a +1 for the ISSUED USMC Sling which saw action in Afghanistan on my best friends M4 USMC Issued rifle that he gifted me for my Birthday:

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-1...255B1%255D.jpg

Can't wait to get some upgrades for this rifle.. Looking at a Red Lion forend with some sights other than factory. Admittedly, the factory sights aren't really that terrible.

Also discovered that Black Dog Machine had a Gen III AR-15 magazine for .22lr conversions:
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-j...255B1%255D.jpg
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-D...255B1%255D.jpg

Has steel feedlips.. Too bad it doesn't fit any of my Three AR magazine wells. BDM failed on this one. :(

Since I don't subscribe to the 'myth' of CCW with handloads, I load up my own. Start with some WCC or Speer nickle casings, add a 125+ grain Sierra JHP, and some powder. The two on the left were 125gr Sierra JHP's with 5.3gr (measured on digital scale) of Alliant Unique powder which is .3gr over the "maximum" according to my load book. Load claims 5.0gr in a 4" bbl gives 1078fps @ 30700psi pressure. Judging by the condition of the primers, I might back those loads down by a full grain of powder... On the right is a 115gr FMJ I loaded with 3.0gr of Unique Red Dot fired from my Sub2000.
