Hi, everyone!

I've been lurking the forums the past couple weeks as I toy with the idea of turbocharging my Miata and decided it was time to join. I've had some experience with Miatas; I spent a few years here in California building/prepping Spec Miata cars, and then spent some time on the NC MX-5 cup cars as well. I eventually quit that gig and went to school. I'm finishing up my bachelor's in mechanical engineering at the University of California, Davis, and plan on giving my '94 NA a little spruce up once I graduate.

The last interesting car I owned was a 1992 Subaru Legacy sport sedan, with the EJ22T engine. I had done some work to it (standard turbo car mods: bigger turbo, fuel and boost control, exhaust) and ended up with a healthy 200whp/200wtq. I've been reading up on EFI tuning in my spare time because I'm getting the itch to work on cars again, and I'm pretty excited to start a turbocharging project on my 1994. I bought the car this last summer to commute to an internship, got from a loving family for $1000, single owner, running, and with a factory hardtop!

Anyway I have to say that this forum has been a great source of information so far and I'm really happy I found it.

Did you get that from the soup kitchen?

Interior looks like hustler had his way with 18psi in there.

lol! nah I uploaded the wrong image at first. That was some asshat that broke into my 2007 NC, found the bottle of wax I left in the trunk, and decided to decorate my car for me.

Most level headed intro I've ever read. Why can't we get more of these users instead of the influx of those over the past two weeks.

What are your tentative plans? Build, Fun, v8?

Was gonna go high-end like this:

....My real goal is to have something to tinker with and use as both a street and trackday car since I have three high quality road course tracks all within 3 hours of my home.

Right now I'm trying to wrap my head around the megasquirt EMS and find which one is right for me and my budget of zero dollars, haha

You'll be fine.

You can download the tuner studio software and tinker with maps just know the ins and outs. Pick up an MSPnP1 just to try on your own car before turbo. But if you're feeling adventurous, just spring for the MS3/x to dive in deep and future proof your car.

Seems to me you bought a hard top, and they threw in a nice Miata for free. Great buy.
