Well I just found some closed-loop settings that Brain came up with here: https://www.miataturbo.net/showpost....72&postcount=6, punched them in and went for a spin around the block. Wow. Genius level stuff. I wouldn't know where to get started on tuning that further. It's not perfect but it is massively improved. What I've read about PID settings makes my brain hurt, so I'll probably leave it like this and smooth out the idle area of my VE map and call it good for now.

make sure you figure out the exact open and close points of your Idle Valve and note the rpms at which it's open and closed. There are some guides out there telling you how to do it, and then do some more messing around with the PID stuff. Not too hard to get your idle dead on actually kind of fun once everything responds the way you want it

Thank you for that advice. I literally input Brain's settings blind because I had no idea what any of them did. I did read some good advice shortly after that about the idle valve and how to check it, so I was thinking that would be my first step in adjusting the settings for my car. Glad to have that idea validated.

Going to have to play with idle soon, it's pretty good but not perfect.

Just removed my MAF (I already had the GM IAT sensor installed and plugged into the unplugged MAF sensor)... GOOD GOD no wonder that thing robs power! I never realized just how much plastic is blocking the airflow.

I did another quick autotune session and my god.... I <3 Megasquirt and TunerStudio. Car pulls like a train even on stock injectors and non-intercooled.

Installed my 420cc RX8 injectors last night, took all of 30 minutes! Happy with that. I figured.... 265cc stock injectors to 420..

265/420 = 0.63

I thereby reduced REQ_Fuel to 8.2 from 13 and then reduced my cranking PW line by value * 0.63 and it fired up on the first crank no problem. I highlighted the area around my idle and reduced it in steps until it was idling at 14.5:1 and then went for an autotune session. Easy!

Megasquirt is amazing thanks to the vast number of people dedicated to making it easy for dumb people like me.
