i currently have a NEW set of SmartFire OBD1 denso-style injectors high impedence injectors but when installed i cant seem to get a steady idle no matter what i change the settings too. I set the req. Fuel to the appropriate setting and to no avail. i put the 460's back in so i dont waste so much fuel

 

Those injectors look like ev1's as well if I'm not mistaken. And they are bigger ev1 injectors at that, so they will idle even worse than the 460s.

You need a better injector, one with a better response time, spray pattern, etc. I'd recommend at least some ev6's, but the ID ev14's are the ****.

My idle on a ms1 went from okay to great when i upgraded from ev1's to ev6's, and it went from great to awesome when i went hi-res code. it idles purrfectly now.

A megasquirt that hasn't been updated since email was the 'have you heard about this new thing,' and injector technology from when Pink Floyd broke up.

Definitely upgrade your resolution and then injectors.

 

As far as i know its got the latest firmware update. I didnt know anything bout this till i bought these injectors and tried to get the idle right.
Want to upgrade to ms2 but money is an issue. As always when you have a project/daily driver car.
Im stuck with these for a while .
while under boost the power my car puts out is insane for a FWD car at least for me lol Ultimately this build will go into a Miata but till then i need to getit right.

 

As far as the capacitor question. I spoke with the guy who built my unit, he says that my unit already has a cap on the 12v input line and another one in unit.

Okay, now you know your issue :P #1 get hi-res code. If it still idles like ****, then get better injectors. A combination of the two would be best.

Honestly my car idles and runs pefrectly fine on my MS1 with hi-res and dw800's (ev6 iirc). Those injectors were a huge upgrade for me over the old rx7 550s i was running previously (ev1). ID injectors (ev14) would be a huge upgrade again over the DW's. No reason you cant get this thing to purr like a kitten.

 

yeah i know i spoke with the guy that built the unit. it has the cap's installed on it. and i dont really car to use low-z injectors anyways.
injector upgrade will come eventually but for now i have to work with what I got.
