I installed the .1uf cap on the CAS input (it was missing) and also did the idle transistor upgrade- should help a lot from the way it was before. I was really shocked that Radio Shack actually carries TIP120s in stock. Sadly, they do not carry the mica insulators for them (WTF?) which is why it's just floating up in the air right now. Might head up early tomorrow and stop by Sarasota Electronics on my way to the meet. They close at 5, so unless I can otherwise amuse myself, I'll be at BW3 early.

Shocking news- I stopped by the Nissan dealership on my way back from Punta Gorda, and they do in fact have a load-bearing dyno. It's right next to the Hunter Hawkeye and the RoadForce balancer!!!

Turns out that Harbor Nissan actually owns a little tuning company called Relentless RPM. They're located right there in the dealership, with a little office on the showroom floor and sharing shop space with the service dept out back. I talked with Brad, the manager, for a while. Sharp guy. Turns out they started just as a way to sell chrome and bling to new car buyers, but evolved into an honest-to-gods tuner shop. Got their own fab guy, an ECU guy, the whole nut. This place may be the best kept secret in all of Charlotte county.

You are the mf'in man Joe Right-clicked, save as...

I'm glad that you redid the wiring, I didn't feel at all comfortable with what was done before I decided to pop the covers off and have a look myself. I'm also glad I decided to just start from square one and I'm glad I got a pro's opinion on it as well. Who knows what problems I would have run into after all was said and done. Let me know what you need from this and I'll get it to you asap, I was in the process of sorting through everything and getting a list of things needed, I had a 1uf cap here, but think back to the early 80's and you'll realize it couldn't have fit in the case . I'll be picking up my replacement sensor for the AEM before I head home tomorrow afternoon. Thankfully if it's the sensor for real, I put antiseize compound on the o2 before I installed it and it'll take less than 10 minutes to swap out.

Best kept secret indeed, WTF?! Did you happen to ask how much Relentless charges for dyno time? I'd put in some money or get a group to come down if we were able to rent if if they were cool with it. I'm shocked about this though because I have friends that work right down the road from Harbor, but they never told me there was a dyno there. You'd think it'd be pretty obvious with cars putting down numbers right down the road They might actually know people that work there too

I was going to mention that there was an electronics place in Venice since it's less of a drive, but I don't know if he's still there or not. He was right behind the J&J plaza before Seminole on N.US41. Forgot the name of his place, but I'll be tooling around town tomorrow regardless so I'll take a look see. I'll let you know if he's still there and if he is I'll ask if he has anything like that insulator there. Let me know when you're heading up to SRQ also, I'll be out in the MR2 so I can catch the bug again of wanting to put in a turbo in my Miata.

Capt. Slow, your MS shipped out today via UPS, should be there Thursday. Tracking number is deleted so we can all track the status of your package together in collective anticipation. BTW, the beer you sent is pretty darn good. I don't buy lagers very often (they're frequently quite plain) but this one has a surprisingly malty and complex taste.
Excellent. I'm way excited to get this in. I'm clearing my weekend to do nothing else than get this working. Glad to hear about the beer. I had no idea what I was buying.

You know it would take me at most 5 min not including wait time to call UPS and have the delivery address changed to my house for that tracking number.

But you wouldn't do that, because we're all reasonable guys here. (Besides, I'm sure something really bad would happen to your account if you did.)

Srsly thought. Have you ever actually tried that? They call the shipper at the phone number which they provided. It's frustrating when you're the recipient and you need to make a change, but them's the shakes.

$125 an hour, no setup charge. Which is pretty damn reasonable, IMO.

I'd put in some money or get a group to come down if we were able to rent if if they were cool with it.
We discussed this too. They are in fact most certainly cool with it. When he asked what computer I was using, I told him that I build MegaSquirts, and he seemed quite amicable to the idea of bulk discounts, either in the form of a dyno day or just from collectively bringing folks in over time.

Yeah you'd think. And it's not just the dyno either. Like I said, they've got a Hawkeye and a RoadForce machine sitting right next to it as well. I don't think I ever found a shop with all three machines in one place the whole time I lived in SoCal.

And they seem to stay busy. When I got there, a 350Z had just finished putting down something in the neighborhood of 400HP.

So yeah. If there is in fact a group that's serious about it, this would seem to be a good spot. I've been meaning to get no myself to spend some time tweaking my spark map (which is gonna wait until I get the knock sensor to stop falsing, and probably the coolant reroute done) but after that...

I'm a reasonable guy. Dont know about everyone else.

Otherwise, yes, I have tried it, and with success. I just call them and pretended to be the shipper.

TO-220 Mounting Hardware - RadioShack.com

Good luck having one of the lackeys locate it for you when they have one in stock and they have no idea what it's for. Hint: They're not in the transistor bin.

WTF? I could have sworn I searched that whole store top to bottom. And not a mall store, either. I drove all the way the hell out to Punta Gorda to go to a "real" one.

You're right though, they sure as hell aren't in the transistor drawer.

No matter, I ordered a handful of them from Parts Express (the rubbery ones that are both an insulator and a thermal conductor) and they should be here by Friday.

edit: I just used the "Find it near you" function, and sure enough, they're not listed at Punta Gorda or Port Charlotte. Nearest one is in Englewood, which is about 25 miles north of here.

I hate this town...
