Default MS3PNP Pro sensor setup difficulty

Hello,

I figured I'd ask here before contacting AMPefi or DIYautotune. I'm not 100% sure where it came from, it was ordered from Lars. I installed an AEM 30-0300 X series UEGO before installing the MS3. I quickly realized after a first start attempt idling super slowly running SUPER rich that I needed to change the O2 sensor settings. For the AEM Canbus I wired the high/low wires to CanH and CanL on the options connector.I marked the wires with tape and more than triple checked as I wrote the labels and before connecting the wires (opposite bullet plugs so they can't be plugged together backwards if the ECU needs to come out in the future to access the options plug.

I tried these settings in post #5 by Graxis and got a settings error stating "Megasquirt CAN must be disabled to support 29 bit receiving. That doesn't make any sense to me and doesn't guide me as to where to look. I searched online but this is overwhelming. With the LC-1 and MS2 enhanced I installed on a previous Miata, it started on the first try and I was able to get tuning. I gave up on that car because it was a POS and the LC-1 kept randomly freezing full lean despite perfect wiring as far as I could tell (verified by my brother that designs and builds wire harnesses).

Can anybody help? I initially saved the tune on the ECU so I could go back. Then I loaded the default MSM tune and got a page full of warnings. Doesn't help that I'm getting sick (sore throat) and am running out of paitence working in the hot, humid garage. Thanks!

SOLVED...I think.
I found the setting that I missed. Under CAN parameters, third setting down in my software is 29bit Megasquirt CAN enable...it was on. I'm switching it off and going back out to plug the laptop into the car. This is more of a Hydra Nemesis than the 2.6 Hydra Nemesis...so many more options :-)

The warning is gone and the MS3 software gauge reads the same as the AEM but I'm not sure if I need to change anything under Tools, Calibrate AFR Table. I see no setting for the 30-0300 X-series gauge. I guess I'll dig in the manual and see about setting it manually to whatever AEM recommends...if there's a recommendation. It starts and barely, barely idles running VERY rich.

The other thing I might have screwed up is as soon as I plugged the laptop in it asked about updating files from the web. If that was a firmware update I didn't know I should unplug the coils. Maybe the coils are now fried? I wish I could easily plug my Hydra Nemesis back in...guess I could if I used a long vacuum hose as I removed it to pull the new MS3 vacuum hose. I set it to run open loop (no wideband, correct?) so all I'd need to do to test is plug in the extension harness and run that vacuum hose. That'll tell me if the coils are fried. Too bad that warning is buried THREE pages down in the main MS3 PDF, no mention of it in the 04/05Mazdaspeed installation PDF that I saw.

I think I'm done for tonight...might be calling in sick for a few days to get a Covid-19 test. :-(

SUCCESS. I wanted to update...wish I could delete the thread but maybe it'll help another MX-5 owner trying to install an AEM CANBUS setup. I'm extremely happy yet embarrassed to admit my mistake. Since I'm the 3rd owner of this Mazdaspeed and didn't install the FM2 Garrett upgrade parts, I forgot the injectors are RC550cc. No wonder it barely idled and I'm glad I shut it down quickly. The answer came to me as I was snoozing trying to rest to recover from this cold. Duh, how about reseting required fuel for the actual injector size so it's not dumping 2X required fuel?

It started pretty easily but idle was hunting so I held the throttle around 1100 RPM as it warmed up. I did a little auto-tuning of idle fuel cells as warmup enrichments were ending and the idle stopped hunting and smoothed out enough that I could verify 10 BTDC static igntion timing. Another short time using VEanalyze got it idling smoothly down near 850 RPM without it bogging badly when throttle was dropped. Only one stall out so far. The AEM and MS3 AFR agree with one another so my wiring and settings were fine. Now to bolt the heatshield and OEM butterfly brace back on and get it off the jackstands (Hydra WBO2-ectomy and AEM UEGO installation).

Anybody want to buy a Hydra Nemesis 2.6?

Thanks for updating your post. I am going to be installing this exact same gauge once my MS3PnP arrives. So it seems you were able to get it wired via CAN but you had to change some settings on megasquirt correct?
