We will be working with Bryan on testing out his unit and seeing if it needs any changes. I've set this up with him by PM but wanted to fill the rest of the forum in on what's going on.

Default Rehashing an old thread - Car is running again

Tach is still not working. Matt Help!

Recap:
  1. Installed MSPNP. Runs fine but stock tach is dead
  2. Put stock ECU back in. Runs fine and tach works again.
  3. Sent the MSPNP back to DIY for mods
  4. Car on jackstands for 4 months while rebuilding motor
  5. Started fresh motor yesterday with stock ECU. Fired on first crank. Runs perfectly. Tach works.
  6. Installed MSPNP. Runs fine but stock tach is dead

Ok, I still see no mention of you moving the pin from 1f to 2i. Move the pin and get back to us. This was suggested a couple times.

Artie, we did that internally.

Bryan, could you post your MSQ? I'll check to see if you need to change anything in MegaTune to enable the tach.

Placing my bet on the ECU being loaded with MM9495 firmware.

Not yet. Working too much... Anyways I'm gonna drive it around for a few with the stock ECU to break the motor in.

FWIW, I'm a little disappointed with the '99 head. + motor rebuild. I 'm pretty sure I'm down on power. I guess this can be attributed to the low comp turbo pistons but I thought the better head + fresh motor would keep me on par with a worn out 135K mi. motor. Guess not.

Turbo going in as soon as I figure out this MS thing.

Please post your MSQ, I'd like to check the tach output settings and see if they need any changes.

Looks like it has the tach output turned off. Go to More Settings -> Tacho Output Pin and change it to X2 (JS0). Let me know if that fixes it.

Hallelujah, it works. Must have been the pin swap thing since I played with the tacho settings before with no avail.

Thanks guys!

On a '94 the tach signal comes from the coils.
