it sounds like you might have tapped the sensor into the wrong spot.
the Red/Black wire (singular) is the AIT signal wire on the harness.
the Black/Lt Green is the ground.
from DIY:
Doesn't matter which goes where. But it seems like me like you tapped into the RED and Blk/lt green or blk/blu wires.
if you'd had the laptop connected you'd have probably seen 0° in the intake

i dont remember for sure what the colors were, i went based on that picture that you posted, i cut the third and fourth wire so as long as it doesnt matter which one connects to which other one, i should be ok, no?

i have an idea, maybe you should plug the damn thing in for it to work!!! just laying there is not going to do much, hehehehe. just kidding i am hoping i can help you this weekend to figure the thing out. call me when you get here. well make it work. all we need is to buy a ***** magnet j/k.
