There's a local guy who says he can do it, but seems like he is flaking on me, and I need it done NLT Friday.
so..
the options as I see them, assuming I can't get it welded here in Augusta, are:
1. Get it welded in ATL (ATL people, know a shop with a TIG?)
2. JB-weld it, though I'd really hate to go that route.

I drilled a 1/2" hole, then used a 1/2" male to 3/8" female fitting and sealed that in pplace....then simply screwed the ait into that...
looks like this:

was like .50c at Ace Hardware, already had the drill bit.

If you drill the hole just a little smaller than the diameter of the first threads on the sensor you should be able to thread it into the aluminum with some JB weld until your local guy will weld it up for you.
I just had some intake elbow welding done by Suwanee Welding - I'm pretty sure they do TIG as well as MIG.
