its a feature of the mspnp gen2.

  • Knock sensor input with adjustable sensitivity
  • Headphone output for knock sensor – listen for knock while you tune!
it's not a feature of a DIYPNP

So rather than starting a new thread, I figured I'd just drop this question here.

***edit***

But then I made a thread anyways.

You'll want to learn how to search before you dive into Megasquirt, it's a big learning curve and you won't have a good time if you can't figure out some things for yourself.

Google: "Miata Megasquirt naturally aspirated"

Have read until my eyes are ready to bleed, saw the question but not the answer (I think).
Difference between MS3 Basic and MSPNP Pro?
i think they sre both the latest MS3 CPU, but then it gets fuzzy.

Is there a single source of firmware across both?
Both can use the CAN module, or??

Effectively, branding. They both use MS3 boards, but the mainboard is designed and produced by each vendor independently for their respective products. (MS Labs and DIY). Both can run any MS3 firmware. Both can use the MS Labs CAN module.

MSPNP pro uses the ms3pro module. Which is different than the standard ms3 daughter board.

Otherwise yes, similar feature set.

Is there any significant difference in functionality between the older MS Labs MS3 Basic (with the larger form factor/box) and the modern ones on the shelf today?

Sent an email to rev a couple days ago but no dice. I know the guy must get a lot of emails so I figured I'd drop a line here.

Thanks.

******Received an email back**********

Figured I'd update this post as well.

Current units have 5 spare analog inputs vs 3 for the old model, 5 spare programmable outputs vs 3, on-board barometric sensor, selectable external MAP sensor, better power supply, better crank/cam circuits, additional wheel speed (hall) input, flex fuel input.
