Default Weird MS1 issue, with pics!

So a little while ago I was autotuning with VEanalyze live. and I corrupted the firmware (got some rediculous numbers for pretty much everything, 180000 rpm, 20deg engine temp, ect.) Not a terribly hard fix. The weird thing is that the car still runs, and has no issues running, but every time I try to burn from TS, the program starts freaking out and showing odd values.

When this screencap was taken the car kept running with no issues whatsoever.

So every one or two times I connect to TS I get this firmware mismatch

Size: 43.1 KB
So the firmware is obviously corrupt.

I went to reflash the firmware, unplugged the ignitor, ran download-frimware.bat

With the incompatibilities, I ran a search here and found a different firmware that is 64bit compatible and ran into yet another issue.

Ok, So I decided to do a manual boot and bridged the boot ports on the MS board. Great! all of the lights stay off, seems like the MS correctly went into boot mode, when I run the .bat file, I get one of two errors with no particular order or reason for which I get

This leaves me kind of lost as to what to do/ whats wrong with the car. The thing that really stumps me is that the car still runs. A friend of mine is going to come and look at it weds or thurs, but I would really love to figure this out myself If I can, its a long drive for him to make it this way.

Cliffs: built MS1 highres
Firmware corrupted
Car still runs
Had to hard boot
Still wont go into boot mode. but leds on case do not light up.

Get a different laptop and try burning the firmware. I think you may be having com problems. I remember having similar issues in the past.

I get the firmware error periodically. I hit "continue anyway" and never have any problems.

I still connect anyways, but the ms wont hold anything that is burned to it, so I cant tune anything atm. I'm gonna try a different laptop soon, havent found one to use without stealing one, lol.

Scott, if you were referring to me, I know its corrupt. I was trying to relfash it to no avail. going to try again on a different computer when I can scam someone into letting me borrow their computer. But other than that, I'm not sure what else to try.

Gryff,
Are you using a serial to usb adapter? If so, what brand?
I've seen certain prolific chipset (that's the chip inside the adapter, not the brand name) do weird things to corrupt firmware. Somehow they garble the data, just turn it to garbage. The MegaSquirt doesn't know if it's receiving good data or garbage data, and just writes whatever is sent.

The adapter that we have on our site was specially vetted to not do this. It uses an FTDI chip.

Thats a good possibility too! I'm using the gigawire from radioshack, cause thats was I was able to get my hands on easiest when I was trying to get ms running initially. have you heard of previous problems with them before?

hrm, ok. good to know! I'll try and see if someone local with ms has one of your cables to try it out real quick. I'll definitely check it out though!
