cast manifold

With the obligatory I'm not a metallurgist preceding, this part: " Stainless is much cheaper than the alloy i am using " raises the
Maybe it costs more idk but stainless is expensive. It's a harder material with more expensive exotic alloy metals that is harder to cut, harder on machines etc.
The rest all sounds totally reasonable. It isn't used in OEM automotive applications for exhaust manifolds. Corrosion resistance is greater but I'm not convinced SS is superior for an exhaust manifold. Some people swear by it. I'm not convinced it's better than cast iron, or mild steel. Tubular manifolds crack no matter what they're made of. For a cast manifold, SS might be overkill but nothing wrong with that. These aren't million dollar F1 cars with titanium and Inconel we're talking about here. 90% performance 10% cost, I guess you can choose which side of that your budget is on for your car.

Ni-Resist and Ductile Ni-Resist Alloys

I'm curious about the relief cuts and their purpose/effectiveness. Are they solving a problem that doesn't exist? I have the FM log and love it and this appears to be a similar design. Has anyone ever seen one of the FM logs crack or break? I haven't. Not sure if I am missing something here.

More knowledgeable people here than me will likely comment (and / or Kraken himself) but my impression is that it is specifically to prevent warp and potential cracking.
Being a big lump of metal in an extreme environment seems like a good design / precaution?
Edit: possibly more likely a cost saving function at FM's end than with the Kraken manifold?

I wanted to add, that my view above might be outdated. If metallurgy and technology are always improving then there's no reason why newer better alloys aren't already available for the purpose. As long as the big names have been making stainless turbine housings, we at least know it can hold up to the job. If Kraken is using an even better material Ni-Resist D5S that is more expensive than some grade of stainless and selling for a lower price then it seems like a win win despite my B.S. flag above. If that was unfounded I guess an apology is in order. I don't know what these materials cost. We all don't know technically until these are tested and raced for 10+ years.

Compare that to stainless which is $1-2/lb (bulk) depending on grade.
Ni-Resist D5S is very good for this sort of application. It's what the alloy (and similar alloys) was developed for...?
So, for me, Kraken was probably 100% right in all that he was saying, even if was being a bit of a jerk about it? Sounds like some other vendors around here...

I just wish he would you know.... actually respond to the many PMs i've sent him on a forum that he pays to use, concerning money that i've been trying to send him for months, to buy goods that he pays to advertise on a forum.
I don't care of he's a jerk or not on the internet. He has what i want. Quoted me a price for what i want. Then now apparently i have the plague. I'd like to be cured of my plague so i can give him money.

Ni-Resist D5S is ~35% nickel, and nickel pricing is fairly volatile. Current prices are actually fairly low (~$5.70/lb) when compared to 2012-2015 when it ranged from $7-10lb.

For the viewers at home:
I messaged him for an email earlier. Here it is: Krakn08@gmail.com
I told him to check back in here since he's wanted haha.
Edit: My facebook link isn't working?

I dont blame him one bit for coming off like he did on his FB post. Hes making a really nice cast manifold for the Miata community out of Ni-resist that is extremely durable. Then you have some jerk asking about SS, and telling Kraken that some other guy makes a manifold better than his etc. Kraken had every right to be a dick.

Having issues doing the multi quotes on here, my apologies , start with last question since I last have been here, this the EFR on a 1,6 mk1
About the welds, its to do with the way I cut the pipe, working on fixing that soon ....
I really dont want to get into the SS debate because right now I am still learning about structures and properties, once I have this information I will make it available because i am very interested in the tech.
Braineak, I feel your negativity from here, 3000 miles away... the fact that you went to the trouble to take screens of the conversation and on top of that you altering it in such a way that I look bad is not on in my opinion
I have left my all my contact details, whatsapp email, sms and facebook, you can even call me see whats up in this part of the world
I will just share some more photos you can tell me what you think
Finish of the manifolds has improved dramatically, I am very happy
Been making some more stuff, most of it goes to other traders for now
In the last 2 month managed to get our own place and two fabricators, they have made my life happy again
