Was going through my spares this week and found the DIY PiDash I made for my last Miata sitting in a box collecting dust. Figured I'd throw it up here and see if anyone had use for it. The thing worked great, I just parted out the car and never did anything with this. I spent around $200 on materials to make it. Not trying to turn a mad profit off of it or anything. It just seems wasteful to have it collect dust now. I'd like to see it go to a good home and get some use again. Asking $75 plus shipping if anyone's interested.
The dash is run off a Raspberry Pi4 computer, programmed according to Beavis's guide linked below. The unit includes a generic 7" touchscreen, a SanDisk ExtremePro 32GB MicroSD, a generic 80x80mm 12v fan, and all the associated cables, power supply converter, and card reader needed. Also included is a wireless keyboard/mousepad. I ran the unit on my MS3X-equipped 1995, but believe it should work for any other year running an MS3 (and maybe even MS2?) as well.
When powered on, TunerStudio opens up automatically and defaults into dashboard mode. With the supplied keyboard, you can modify your tune straight from the dash! Only thing I never got to work was the GPIO button on the right. It's supposed to be set up to deliver a shutdown command to the Pi, but I failed at setting that up. I just defaulted to shutting the system down manually with the keyboard every time I shut the car off.
