I saw the setup today. Welds look good, and I was really impressed with how exhaust sounds. It sounds almost stock, and certainly quieter than the aftermarked exhaust the previous owner installed on my car. Great for a daily driver, and for keeping a low profile.

I'm nearly certain my quiet exhaust has saved me a few tickets since I went turbo, I've had many verbal warnings :)
Same setup as this car, just a lowly 1.6 hehe |

^He's right. You could use a few more inches.
It will keep you from sucking fumes under the car. |
Longer tip will also decrease noise inside car.

Sure, but you want the exhaust to completely clear the car to prevent drone.
I was thinking of going with something like this for tip: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1419866920 Stainless Steel Exhaust Tip Double Wall Angle 3" Inlet 4" Outlet 5" Long | eBay |

Hollyshiiii that's quite. I like it. Did you port the turbo at all? My carbide bits came in and I am super excited to put them to work.

This is what it looks like right now. Attachment 234757 |
Yeah as has been said, I was mostly concerned with melted bumper and drone.

Here's my port work. Third gear run, I creep from 7 to 8 PSI
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1419887587 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1419887587 The wastegate hole on my turbo was overall about 1/2" smaller diameter than the wastegate flap could control. I traced as much of the flapper landing location on the turbine housing as possible while assembled, then filled the rest in using a socket or something as a tracing template. I enlarged the wastegate hole to within about 3/16 to 1/8" of the sealing edge of the flap, or to the point where it would have ate into the sides of the turbine housing too much. I don't think I added too much exhaust pressure on the gate, because I'm pretty happy with my boost threshold so far. I was able to get about double the range of the flap by grinding clearance for the rivet head, but I'm not sure my wastegate actuator is able to actually use that range. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1419887587 |
I am home now and about to head out to the garage, all you size queens should be scared of what I am about to do to the tip.

I'm more scared of how turned on I am by all those words.
