So some quick updates. Local hydraulic shop was able to duplicate the T3 turbo gaskets that a few people have bought off eBay to use. I will now be shipping one of those with each setup. The order was also put in to get all the lines made. I forgot that next week is Thanksgiving so the lines probably won't be done until sometime in start of December. Hydraulic shop does not have enough fittings in stock to make the 15 drain and 15 feed lines I need, so getting the fittings shipped to them is the hold up there. I have boxes on order now also. They should be done the start of December.

Setups are going to be delayed for a small bit. One thing that I have not been doing was to have the flanges on the manifold machined flat. The one local shop that would do it for me wanted $80 a manifold to do both flanges. That would be a cost I would directly have to pass on to each of you, and was outrageously expensive.
Today Enco is having a nice cyber Monday sale, so I am buying a big ass belt sander. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1448912933 |

The flanges for the turbo or the ones on the engine aren't flat?

It is possible to warp the flange between the head and manifold, or the manifold to turbo, while welding them. So far I have not had any that have warped enough to cause problems on my t3 setups, as far as I know.
You did such a great job on my manifold Lars. I started taking it apart to put back to stock for a few weeks and the t3 flange is still perfectly flat. I did not get the manifold off the motor yet but I think my spool logs are good evidence that the flange is flat. While I did use a factory gasket to the head I didn't use any gasket on the t3 flange. So the overly long winded point I am trying to make is, whatever heatsink you have been bolting them to, works pretty well IMHO. I may as well mention about 7k on the setup so far, no apparent difference from new except, it gets faster as my tune improves. Can't wait to get it back to boost in a few weeks, the car is so much more fun like that  |

Just finished up swapping my 181k mile oil burning motor for a earlier 104k mile healthy one. Threw in some goodies like an ACT fly wheel, FM clutch and also some custom headers that came off my parts car. getting her ready to get boosted in the spring. Keep up the awesome updates Larz!
Shit's looking good, Lars. |

Here is the manifold after approximately 7k maybe a tad less. All surfaces are perfectly flat except for the scratches from the studs when I was fussing with the water tube attachment. The discoloration is from me trying to reuse a valve cover gasket when I had to change my front seals recently.

ECU is officially installed. Has a misfire, but we're assuming it's the older style GT500 harnesses. The new spacers and harnesses will be here tomorrow.

I talked to the company that I ordered the belt sander from. It should be to my house sometime in the next 2 weeks. I won't get any more updates until the day before they are planning on delivering it letting me know to be home.
I also stopped by the hydraulic shop today to check on the lines. They are still waiting for fittings to come in. They think sometime early next week. I should have them before the belt sander, so they are not something holding me up. The first 10 sets of custom boxes I need are done and will be picked up on Monday. I have 2 NB exhausts done. I am actively working on the final 3rd one. 1 manifold is complete, the other 2 just need the t3 flanges welded on. I should be getting those done in the next week. So its looking like as soon as the belt sander is in, I will be getting the NB setups out a few days later. |

TheCarPassionChannel just posted a video today about wastegate porting which will come in handy for when we all get our kits.
Also for all you 1.8 guys with the stock dummy oil pressure gauge i'll be doing a little write up soon about a little project i worked on this past weekend when i get it all working. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...8a88de5940.jpg |
Easy option is to replace it with a 90-94 gauge and sender. The early cars had real pressure senders and gauges in them. I have one waiting to be installed.

My belt sander should be delivered tomorrow. I am still waiting on oil lines, I will most likely stop by the hydraulic shop today or tomorrow to see if they are done. If all goes well, the 3 NB setups should ship by Friday.
Then I am out of town for the following week. Once I get back I will get to working on the 1.8 NA setups. I am a little behind where I would like to be, stupid life getting in the way of getting turbo setups built. |
