Default Compressor surge

Hey Everyone.

I decided to take my miata for a test drive after i installed the Begi-s turbo kit and megasquirt on it. after driving it for a bit i tried to get into boost and it easily went to 5psi with just about 1/5 throttle in 3 gear. Right when i got off the accelerator i hear massive surge from the turbo. I wonder if this is normal for kit that does not come with a bov?
I already have a bov that i am going to install i am just waiting for a T-piece to come in to install it.

So is this normal to have a surge on a Begi-s kit without bov?

Thanks, Taras

That is completely normal; nine did the same thing. The BOV will take care of it. If it is adjustable you might have to loosen the tension for it to open, depending on how it is initially set up.

You will be glad you did it. The BOV sounds a lot better than compressor surge.

when i put my bov on it stalled all the time. but i'm running the bov vta with the stock ecu. lol

i got a 1g crushed bov from a mitsu dsm and it took care of the stalling and allowed me to still run vta on the stock ecu.

because the bov is crushed it takes more force to open the valve and closes as soon as the pressure has been relieved just as a normal adjustable bov does.

Probably need more tuning with the MS PNP. Give Tim a call tomorrow, as he is at school today.
