Trust me Vash, I feel the same way about ms right now. I cant even get mine to idle right, so your doing better than I am. Ive thought of paying a tuner to do work for me as well, but I really want to learn it. It seems when I change any values suggested for tuning idle I still cant get it to run right.
Did you go into the MS options and tell it you have an LC1? you have to edit it in the megatune configurator. Then go into megatune, pull up ego options, and put in the proper values(that im sure you can find on this forum). Thats how i got my wideband to correspond with megatune.
May I ask what you did to make yours idle well?

Believe me, if I can figure out the MS stuff (though I'm still ignorant compared to some here) anyone can. All it takes is practice. Only by fooling with it and watching the effects of your changes can you learn how to work it.
In regards to the LC-1 makes sure you have the outputs properly setup in logworks. Whatever output you use for the gauge must be set to 0=7.35 5=22.39 AFR. You then set the output to megasquirt to 0=10 5=20 AFR. Mine read differently on the gauge and MS until I sorted that out.

Well, I have some news. My dads business partner, being an ex-race car driver has a ton of connections. We just did a foundation for one of his buddies, who's boss just opened up a shop with 3 other dudes. They are just starting up and as far as I know they are not open to the public yet. They just installed a brand new dyno, and the guys are super knowledgeable with tuning cars. The guy we did the job for came down to our shop and checked out my car, went back and told the shop owners about it. They said whenever I'm ready to go down and they'll set me up on the dyno and help me get it tuned. I'm stoked!
Also, my bodyshop guy ordered my new windshield and I gave him a detailed list of everything I need done. He should be taking the car sometime this week......I hope. I have my eyes on a hardtop as well, so I'm gonna try and snag that and get it down to the bodyshop for paint at the same time.
Since I've been back to work I haven't had much time to touch the miata, but in a sense I'm done. I just need bodywork, paint, and tuned. Once I'm at that step, then comes MemoryFab seats, new wheels and tires, etc etc. I hope to have knocksense and EBC ordered and wired in before I take it to the tuner shop. I figure now is probably the best time to be doing anything MS related.
I hope to have an update with some bodywork shots this week. I'm trying to decide exactly what look I'm going for. Whether or not to cover the CF or leave it exposed. As well as black wheels or sport bronze, probably Rota circuit 8's, seeing they will only be winter wheels.

As of now the car is just sitting in our shop now, I had to move it out of my buddies on Thursday this past week. Hopefully Monday my bodyshop guy will take it, but probably not. I've done this dance with him before a couple other times. He says he'll be ready today to take it, but that day doesn't come for weeks, sometimes months. In any case.....I'm ready for paint.
I figure the longer it sits, the more money I can put toward other ****. I'm actually looking at a Chrysler 300 Hemi/AWD that I might buy. I cant keep sinking money into the miata and keep it as my only ride.
Also, I've been looking into the Devilsown meth injection part of our forum, as well as did some reading on their site. Looks like that will be my next "power" mod.
I hope to have an update soon with the bodywork pictures.

I handed the keys to my bodyshop man when we got back to the shop tonight. He said he will be taking it in first thing in the morning to start on the headlights, hood, and front bumper. I take it with a grain of salt cause this assfuck has given me the run-around plenty of times before. He's a ************ to get him started, but the end result is always worth it.
Winters here, work is steady, and I'm now modding my ex's LGT so that's keeping my car bug happy. And not to mention my new love to longboarding has taken up pretty much all my free time. If it took him until the spring to finish the car....I could care less. Long as it finished by the spring!
I'll will take pictures and be sure to update as progress is made! Thanks for staying tuned dudes.

Sidetrack:
So for Christmas this year I had to hook a friend up. She's into her 05' Legacy and wants to start modding it. Only problem is she doesn't know where to start, doesn't want to spend the money right now, etc etc. She has a great job and could afford whatever she wanted, but I think she just doesn't get "it". Lets just say I had to help her get the ball rolling.
Snagged a K&N setup that sells for $260ish new for $100 off the LegacyGT forum. I was also able to win a set of Perrin cans off ebay for $200 shipped. They sell for $580 new! In any case, I figured used won't matter in this case and I got **** cheap. I'm hoping its enough to help her bite the bullet and buy a ******* Accessport already. I took a picture of the K&N **** before I wrapped it up but its not on my card. I'm really happy with it, looks like it wasn't even used.
I told her give everything a week and lets see what happens. If she doesn't like it, I'll sell the **** on ebay and give her a Christmas card instead. I will also be doing a oil change and removing the bullshit filter they put in the turbo oil feed line (apparently can clog and block oil to ze turbo)
At some point I will post a thread on the "build", if you can even call it that, hopefully she gets into it. She's an old exgf and now a good friend. She's been there for me alot these past couple years when I really needed someone, so I'm trying my best to show my appreciation.
Back to the miata, I will have pictures of the bodywork progress tomorrow night. Headlights are in, bumpers are on, brackets to secure the IC and bumpers are in, new hood release cable. The hood fit like **** and the CF lights didn't want to cooperate either. So....long story short he is going to fiberglass the hood and headlight buckets to work. Thus meaning I lose my CF look I was going for. So, I hope it turns out ok. I had one vision in my head and now its changed so I'm having a hard time accepting it. Ohh well, I can only hope it turns out good.
Truthfully, between working on 2 separate 454's at work, reading about the Legacy online, and longboarding almost every night, I've had little time to even think about the miata.

great to hear about progress vash...
as for the exhaust and intake, it wont do ANYTHING for her car power wise, no offense. If it was a k/n typhoon (which it sounds like it is) the car more than likely needs a tune now really bad since those kind of intakes usually **** with the maf sensor and screw up afr's, not to mention heat soaks like a ******* bitch. (my subaru lost a lil power due to pulling 2 degrees of timing because of one of these). It will make it sound sexy as **** though, so thats def a plus. Accessport is a great little gadget, but if you can find an opensource tuner (much like myself but local) in your area I would suggest that over anything else. it will cost 1/6th of an accessport and be a real tune specifically for that car. sure the base maps on that cobb are a step up, but with a real tune you will be amazed at the power gains and overall badassedness of the powerband.
Just my .02, just trying to help, please dont hate me lol. here's what will make that car a beast with minimal mods:
a GOOD bellmouth catless downpipe
a good free flowing full exhaust (complete 3" mandrel bent etc etc etc
a protune from a reputable tuner
thats it. the car will haul serious *** and do it safely with just those 3 mods.
back on topic of your ride:
cant wait to see the sexyness and see it in action
*edit: ooh I forgot something: get a tactrix cable from www.tactrix.com - 100 shipped. and an email tune from xpt tuning (you can find their link on www.osecuroms.org) for 50, flash it in her car and voila: her car will run WAY BETTER than with a cobb ots map, and for 150 bux total..(compared to like 600+ for a ap1 and at least 300+ for a protune)...once again just a suggestion

BTW I have never seen a car be so pickey about its intake than my friends '04 STi. Took him like four tries (fabbing his own intake) to get the damn thing to idle right.
Vash the car looks clean as hell!

Thanks guys! I plan on starting a thread about this Legacy soon, lately I just hate sitting at the computer. I did a shitbunch of reading on the Legacy forums about the K&N issue. It seemed to me like it was a hate it or love it deal with the members, so I figured I would make the call for myself. Thanks for the heads up on the tactrix cable, I'm gonna read up on it this weekend.
The bodyshop guy has had the kid that works with him on the miata all day, every day this week. Looks like it might be finished just in time for snow. Anyways, I took some pictures today. New brackets to hold the front bumper that combo up to hold the lower IC tabs. CF headlight buckets are in and the Hella lights are adjusted. Now they need to work the hood and get the aerocatch's in. Not much more to do really, I just want them to take their time is all.
I'm currently doing a valve job on a set of Corvette heads down at the shop. I did another set of heads a couple weeks ago for one of our trucks, this time the vette heads are going on a boat. This is all practice for when I bring my spare miata head to the shop to **** around.

Wow so I'm new to posting on this forum, but I've been absorbing information for a while. This thread overwhelms me with the amount of quality information in it. Thanks for the awesome documentation of your massive project, it will be a crucial part of any build I attempt in the future. Btw, i just read this whole thread in almost one sitting, quite an enjoyable read. Thanks again for the contribution

As far as the miata, I haven't walked into the bodyshop nextdoor in over a week now. I have no idea how far into the job he is, for all I know he might have put it on the backburner for a bit. Either way, I'm in no rush. I figure this gives me more time to bank some more money and get more parts! lol
Gave my ex the Perrin canisters and K&N intake today, she was pretty stoked. In exchange I got a dope Nixon watch. She's worried the exhaust is going to be too loud. I should be putting the stuff on this week.
Merry Christmas guys! I actually had a great one, normally I hate it. I hope you all enjoyed Christmahanakwanza!
