I'm actually interested in what his car is.. His tires, suspension etc.. I used to race in A and D trim before E. So I'm kind of curious..
I'm not trying to rip him off or gain an edge. I go my own way in this aspect of the sport. |

I'm not trying to rip him off or gain an edge. I go my own way in this aspect of the sport. The only reason any competitor would be curious is: -He faster and I have no chance so I'll stay home -I think he's cheating and I plan to protest -He came up with a better package so I should change my setup to match it -I think he is misclassed -I'm not sure what class I should race in Honestly, in any possible scenario I can come up with, I'm not going to publish or share my championship entry race car with anyone who I think I'll have to race against. Not mocking you. It's just that the top level of club racing crosses over with the entry level of pro races. Teams don't publish their tech. Sometimes club racers get their feathers ruffled when that reality closes a door they though would be open. If he chooses to share his setup, consider it a very generous gesture. |

I've never ran my car in PTE trim. I've been developing it for D but am making a last minute switch because I'm the only person signed up for PTD... lol
My car will do 38's, maybe high 37's in D trim. I'm expecting 41's for E trim I was just down there with NASA-SE and no one is near 1:41s. I think the PTD guys where thinking they could podium/possibly win with a 1:40 ish. PTE times where 1:44 to 1:45 (which is near identical to spec times) during the race, but obviously nationals is more competitive. |
I'll be perfectly honest with you in this matter. I'm not asking you to believe me or agree with me.
I understand the level of development require to reach podium. I've been there, I've failed and succeeded just as you all have. I subscribe to the method of "finding the right way" on my own terms. I confide in this method. I find beauty in the fact that another team, in another way found the same results independently from the rest. Diversity at its finest. I pity the teams/people that siphon information from others because they lack the conviction to find it themselves. When I ask for a car set up it's because I'm excited to put my ideas up against theirs. After all, when on track, racing is one man's mind versus another. |

Will you give me some info on your car?

Hahaha... nice

Hmm. I really don't have any secrets about my car. My use of points is a rather common one that other nationally competitive Miatas have won with. Most of the same obvious parts that everyone is using.
My advice is to read through all relevant threads on this forum and heed the advice of Emilio and Andrew Kidd. They have been there and done it all with these cars in TT/PT. That should easily give away what parts are on my car. As for my use of points: If you know the rulebook well then youll know exactly what points someone is using when you see a PTE Miata, so, you will see. I'm normally very open about my car because I actually encourage people to copy my setup just to have people to race with. PT/ TT Miatas are weak in the regions I play in. However being that people have mentioned that people didn't show up for PTD because of me, I'm beginning to think I should have been holding cards closer to my chest and or played mind games or somehing this whole time. My car has been in development for D for over two years. That's the secret, lots and lots of research, diligent prep, continually developing setup, and all of my money. Now that I'm doing a last minute switch to E my confidence is not as high. On paper, I will be fast but it's going to be largely untested aside from next weekend at Sebring. There's going to be some fast E cars at road Atlanta to contend with so I'll have to get it figured out pretty quick. |
JandJ, are you currently on the entry list for PTE?
Here is a video from a couple months ago at road atlanta in D trim: 2nd lap would have been a 1:38.9 without that bobble. And thats with like 12 heat cycled sm6 instead of A6 the car is classed for. Add sticker A6's and a 37 is possible. |

Here's the front fascia.
Holes across the nose are for cooling system. |
I would protest those tailights! to the fashion police

I was on the list but my engine is toast and I simply can't get it back together in time |

probably because it does not meet the letter nor spirit of the rules. if you are first or second at the championships your group director is likely to ding you for it anyway.
I've never be approached or protested for any body changes |
NO Point Modification:
3) Radiator upgrade/shrouding/fascia modification (drilled or cut holes/slots) that only provides increased airflow to the radiator or oil/transmission coolers (without aerodynamic or engine air intake improvement) Since I am dyno reclassed the point modification for routing an air filter near an inlet which is +1, is null and void. |
Looks legal to me.

I like how you keep on the throttle and don't lose momentum . especially like how you didn't lift at the last turn to front straight. You do not fear the concrete wall! |
I fear the crap out of that wall but don't lift (sometimes). My buddy bound up his car (out of fear, I suppose) and looped it into the inside wall there in a massive head-on strike and then the car rolled twice as momentum carried it down the grass along the wall. That was in DE2 with a non-caged street car. Not much runoff room there.

The concrete barriers have helped me be a better driver in a way. The choices made reflect the potential outcome.. I started driving smarter than faster. Strangely enough that started making me faster at that track and others. I suppose I was over driving the car in a wreckless manner and I just thought I was going fast |

As much as I wish it had the run off space like VIR, I think it would not be RA without the walls. For me it's part of the RA experience. My father hates the track because of the harsh consequences, like your friend had to go through.

Concrete walls suck. This comes from a guy who is flat in 12 also. |
