And I thought it used to pull hard.....HOLY SHIT. We were limited in the ability to go full throttle many places.....but when we did.....it pulled from .87 to .91g accelerating through 2nd gear. That's pretty cray cray in a Miata on asphalt and Autocross tires!!!

What did you end up with for weight distribution after moving all the stuff towards the back?

I don't know yet. I haven't had it on the scales yet. Hope to have that done in the next week or so.

I was wondering about your S/C intake/throttle body setup. I saw that you have a 75mm TB, and that looks like a custom adapter from 75mm to the squoval whipple flange. Have you tried a larger/smaller TB back to back?
You changed your intake tubing length to the front of the car. Did you get an A/B test for the short vs. long? I assume you moved it for intake temperature reasons, but with the intercooler is that noticeable? I was thinking of using a GT 500 throttle body and a custom "Plenum inlet" for my setup. In an academic sense (fluid dynamics and vacuum across an aperture) it should help a lot, and from a marketing perspective it has helped Kenne Bell. Any thoughts? |

I have but not on this specific setup. Based on the amount of air the setup is flowing, the Throttle body doesn't pose a significant restriction. I actually did it for weight, "general neatness" under the hood, weight distribution from left to right and heat. The heat post IC is way down but that is due to the more efficient 1.6L supercharger vs the old 1.2L. The heat going into the blower will, however impact the life of the supercharger. I consider that setup as well, but for my specific setup there wasn't enough room. You want the throttle body offset slightly to the side of the female rotor and as far away from the rotor pack as reasonably possible.(I have verified that with testing) At this point...the car is already making more power than a Miata chassis could effectively use in competition without active traction control...(and it's borderline making more than it can use WITH the traction control.) So I won't be making anymore power bumps until I can somehow make a Miata put power down like a Lotus. |

Seconds faster? Where are you getting your information?
The Fastest Lotus has only ever been 3 10ths of a second faster than this car. And the gap was only that large once. Most of the time the two cars are separated by THOUSANDTHS of a second. |

Couldn't stay away from the car or the cones. Went to a local event this past weekend. Set FTD (Beat a shifter cart to do it :) ) and had to be "conservative" by the sound meter because they had it setup next to a set of metal football bleachers.
This car is soooo addictive and I still can't wrap my head around how much faster it's going to be next year ;) #ThemConesBeCallin |

I put mine in with sleeve retainer only, haven't moved.

Cool little video some guys put together of my car at a local event down in Alabama.

My Best Run from Z-Max......the drama leading up to this run was like none I had ever experience in AutoCross. I (Irresponsibly) had been lazy and put Generator Gas in one of the cans we use for Race Gas. I put a piece of tape around the handle and put a different "neck" on the can.......but then my dumb ass forgot to tell anyone else. When we were prepping the car for morning runs, Randall fueled the car like he always does.....with 93 rather than C-16. Well. I go out on my first run and the car doesn't feel quite right...and when I come through the finish and caught a whiff of gasoline.....rather than C-16 and it hit me. So we get to grid, I tell the opps steward what happened and rush the car back to paddock, jack up the rear of the car and break loose the line on the fuel pressure regulator, Bryan Hayes got in the car and operated the fuel pump and we drained all the "93 / C-16" Mixture out of the car. And while we were doing that, dad was replacing the rear wheel stud I broke while I was removing the pass side wheel to get to the fuel system. We got all that replaced, put 5 gal of fresh C-16 in her and I drove quickly back to grid and as I was pulling in the grid worker tells me our Mechanical is over and I have 50 seconds to present to the line to make my run......as I am pulling to the line I'm putting on my hat and trying to get buckled up.....which I failed to do. So I go out, run a 36.1 before I am able to catch my breath and still trying to get my head back into driving mode. Here is another run from this past weekend. Car is working so well right now. Accelerating like a cartoon, and just doing exactly what we ask it to do exactly when we ask it to do it. The new motor is pulling .15g more in a straight line than last year's motor....and it's not even tuned yet.

What's your wheel setup now? Certain pics looks stretched like a 12 but it could just be tire deformation with as much force as they see. I know before you've said you didn't think 12's would fit up front on a Miata but the Two-Six guys seem to be making it work on the CSP car.

Sooooooo. Some of you already know that the crank broke at the Peru Championship Tour event on the 16th.
I just wanted to report that the motor is running again and we will be at the Bristol Double National Event next week!!!!!! |
