I have. Looks like it works great, just not a huge fan. Not sure why. But I might try it with the oil cooler there. Need to see if it fits.

I had to cut the tabs off the intercooler to make it fit. And will have to cut off the AC brackets.

I don't really have a plan yet, I'm just cutting until everything fits.

Different angles of Ryan's cut-out front.

Don't want to derail Aidan's thread but here's a couple pics. Don't have any pics with the ducting out of the way, sorry

With that much oil cooler, I would much rather have the OC behind the IC than in front of the radiator.

The intercooler only fits in one location. Oil cooler wouldn't fit behind it. My idea is to angle it so that a good amount of air still goes to the radiator.

Or just put it in front of the intercooler.

I got it. Get rid of the intercooler, add E-Cool. Then you will have plenty of room for oil cooler with ducting.

Have you considered an oil cooler mounted in the wheel arch?

This requires you to cut a duct hole in your bumper but provides clear/cool air straight to the oil cooler without compromising your radiator's effectiveness.

I struggled with my DIY oil cooler after realising than none of the off-the-shelf MX5 solutions was very effective.

I have an MSM and mounted my Setrab STD Narrow 25-row Oil Cooler (L:210mm, H:193mm, D:50mm; 2xM22 connections) behind the fog light (obviously removed the foglight).
It fits in front of the wheel arch liner so is protected from tyre debris and with ducting is effective (8-10*C difference when driving on the highway then coming to a standstill).

Oil cooler mounted behind fog light (blue tube is silicone hose, split and mounted on ducting to seal gaps to oil cooler).

Top mounting bracket is 3mm galvanised steel; those three 6mm bolts on the left are the only new holes drilled into the car and screwed into 6mm nutserts,

Right diagonal aluminium bracket mounts to a tie-down hook bolt-point and bottom of oil cooler to provide horizontal stability
.

I have actually. And don't like it. I end up off track way more than I care to admit, and I would trash one of those.

I have oversized coolers, in hopes of not needing as much air.

No its not the perfect solution, but I believe I can make it work.

The coolers we scooped off ebay are also retarted huge. I dont even think theyd fit in the wheel well, well.

No way to fit them in the well at all.

I'm still not sure where its going to go. I'm going to mount the intercooler first, because there is only one place that fits.
