Did some more track things. Car is fun.

PSA: Don't buy RC-1s expecting a durable 100TW tire.

I bought these hoping they would handle heat better than a 200TW tire, and last a decent amount of time. 4-5 days would have been cool.

This is not a full day.

Probably not enough camber, so partially my fault, but this thing melted in the heat. Rest of the tires wore way more than expected. With better camber and rotation, maybe 2 days.

Probably going to v730s.

Anyone want to buy 3 low mile heavily used RC-1s?

Yeah. I should have rotated. But even if I did that I'd probably get 2 days max. Much less than expected.

Bring trash tires to a trash track. ORP has gone way down hill in recent years, even lucky dog isn’t going there for 2023, maybe beyond. And it’s famous for destroying tires. We have a lot of customers asking for alignment help for ORP. We simply say to not go there. Try some 200-400tw tires, rs4s would probably be great there. But even they have weird wear patterns at ORP

Wait what's happened to ORP? I keep dreaming of that place, trying to figure out a way to get back there.

That's surprising, I wonder if its a recent thing? When I was running TT, I was able to get 4-5 events out of a set no problem running 5-7 20 minute sessions. Sure, they fell off after a few heat cycles, but they stayed consistent at around 80% or so. And that includes running at rough tracks like CMP before the repave.

+1 this isnt normal. Remember these were the spec tire for the supermiata S1and S2 race classes, I have also run them with great luck, they usually heat cycle out before they wear out.

Did you do any cool down laps during your nonstop 50-minute session? What were track surface temps? If you were full ham not letting tires cool for 50 minutes with insufficient camber, on apparently shitty asphalt...

Isn't there a new compound in the RC-1? I've never used MAXXIS myself, but I heard something about it.

Nothing, that's the problem. Since you were there last (5 years?) they've put exactly zero dollars into it as it slowly falls apart. I've seen RS4s on LD cars, which usually can last an entire season (tread wise, not grip) get chewed up in one race there. We've seen different wear there than from any other NW/northern cali track.

I'm certainly not saying a little more camber wouldn't help Aiden, but do it for PIR, ridge, thunderhill, etc. Then take it to ORP and it'll last a bit longer, but do NOT try to set your car up for ORP. Not worth it IMO.

More like 7-8 years.

Man, that really really sucks. That is/was my favorite track ever. I love Sonoma and Buttonwillow but ORP just has such a fun layout.

Anyway, back to Aidan destroying tires.
