So, for those of you who tow trailers regularly in the People's Republik of CA: It's been a while since I pulled a trailer over there.... can you still get away with running 62-63mph, or have CHP gotten stricter.

I'll put it this way: no one towing a trailer seems to be scared of the CHP, but this is also coming from a guy who doesn't tow.

@Savington or @codrus might be a better source of this kind of info, I know they tow.

My California towing comfort level = the flow of traffic in the middle lane. Usually getting passed by semis running ~70.

Didn't have an issue last year towing at 65 ish but perhaps I was just lucky.

<9 over and you are safe (but if you get a ticket for 64 don't cry to me about it). I typically cruise in the 66-68 range with a V1 going and slow to ~60 when it tells me to.

Thanks, guys. I figured <10 over should still be pretty safe, so I'll just be slow and steady in the right lane .

With a 700 mile run, I prefer to just set the cruise at a speed where I don't have to be hyper vigilant... much too tiring!

I regularly towed at 70-75 with my open trailer and never got a ticket. My truck doesn't like going that fast with the TPD enclosed though.

I know the CHP will target trucks for breaking the 55 mph limit, but I don't know anyone who's gotten a ticket just for doing 65-70 with a pickup+trailer.

Kinda late to the party here but I'll be pulling a trailer out from Colorado to play at MRLS. Have an AirBNB with some friends, and I'll be in the C run group. Not sure if C1 or C2 though? Reading through this thread and that's the first I'm hearing of that, unless I saw something about that at registration and completely forgot by now.

Check your registration receipt, it'll say which group.

Also, text or PM me back about those parts :P

Just texted ya back haha. Busy weekend, sorry for the delay.

I have a paypal receipt, and that one email they sent before the payment went through, but that's it. Guess I'll find out at check in

I just checked, and I have the same. First email said another would be coming after the payment, but never did.

I'm also registered for 'C', but this is the first I've heard of C1/C2...

My wife and I are going to be there on Saturday, and would enjoy meeting for dinner with you guys, if there is still space.

So how is the paddock parking going to work? I have only ever been to small tracks, where you can see everyone in the paddock. Is Laguna's paddock pretty big and we will have a section to ourselves? How will I find everyone else?

Big paddock. We are going to get some trailers there thurs night and rope off with Miataturbo.net caution tape, it's pink. So basically watch for that and hopefully we get enough space for everyone.

Well, the paddock is one big lot, you can see pretty much all of it from anywhere (at least, when it's not full of trailers).

Typically it's arranged in rows parallel to the garages at the front, each row having a front car and a back car, and a fairly wide aisle between each. I generally try to park 2-3 rows back, in line with the end of the garages, because it's roughly equidistant between the bathrooms and the Cruisin' Cafe. This is where I intend to go on Friday morning when I arrive for TMR:

My tow rig looks like this:

I'm happy to try to mark off space with cones & pink turbokitty tape. It doesn't always work -- Laguna is usually windy and will often blow markers around. People arrive and park *****-nilly while I'm at the driver's meeting or out on track, and once they've unloaded it's usually hard to convince them to move.

tl;dr -- I'll do what I can, but no guarantees. If you want a good spot, I recommend getting there early.

Does anyone have an extra set of Dynalite front DTC-60 pads I could purchase at MRLS?
