One of the things that was brought up a while ago was the use of the word "fetus." Somehow the use of that word allowed one to separate a being from an organ. Interestingly enough (probably not), a fetus is a developmental stage of a human being. It is akin to infant, toddler, baby, teenager, adult. All of these are developmental stages of a human being. To use the word fetus is to admit the existence of a human being rather than successfully denying such a thing.

I think the part that I could never reconcile is that you're essentially allowing a human being (the mother) to dictate when the being that resides inside of her is alive - with no regard to the father. Not that a father needs to dictate that either - it's just the absurdity that it is from her spoken word that the life becomes acknowledged. "I don't want it" - I guess it's not human (chillin in there at 30weeks). "I want it!" - It's a human (chillin in there also at 30 weeks). I guess it would be to wonder if you just started breeding dogs and when they're a few weeks before being born you just got rid of them all, and see how the crowd responds. *shudders*

Can we talk for a moment about the fact that the President is proposing that the power of Congress be greatly expanded, just so that legislation can be passed which overrides the Supreme Court on one single issue?

Because, nothing bad has ever happened as a result of greatly increasing the power of government in order to pass one single piece of legislation.

Ah dude, were you really in Napa?! I was there as well.

Great find! I do enjoy reading these. I was struck by the dissenting opinion at how much the completely ignore "Innocent until proven guilty".

But, but, but - what if states vote to make a law they don't like...

Also wondering who the most high profile biological male is that is crying about his loss to abortion services?

Another thought - since Science is so highly valued these days, which other species on the planet needs to wait to find out if it is pregnant with a baby or a clump of cells until the Mother decides?

Looking forward to Brainey's assessment of the kid who shot up the 4th of July Parade here in Chicagoland yesterday, and who was really behind it. 6 dead, 20+ wounded.

How is 6 dead and 20 wounded different than any other day in Chicago?

What is funny is the left are threating this, but if one were to read the actual decision (I have) it SPECIFICALLY states that this is a states rights issue and the federal congress has no authority. Passing 'something' will destroy the rule of law in this country unless via a constitutional amendment.

Its beyond time to clean house. November is going to be interesting.

Several reasons. (Aside from the obvious snarky one, which is that Chicago averages only 2.2 homicides on a normal day.)

In general, homicides in Chicago tend to be concentrated in certain specific areas on the west-side and the south-side. Specifically, neighborhoods consisting primarily of certain specific racial groups, and in which poverty, violence, and gang affiliation are the norm.

And homicides in those regions tend to consist of one hood-rat shooting at another hood-rat, usually as the product of some street-level quarrel, and generally without significant planning or preperation.

What happened yesterday took place in an affluent, upscale suburb on the far-north side. Highland Park is the town where Ferris Bueller is from, and is not generally noted for being a hotbed of violent crime. Heck, the general manager of our TV station lives there, and he was at the parade with his wife & kids. They're all physically ok, although the two daughters are pretty fucked up in the head right now from what he tells me.

Additionally, there is a big difference in perception between one thug popping another thug over some dispute about a diss, as compared to a guy climbing up to a rooftop with a rife and several magazines, and targeting a public gathering. Especially if said individual has left behind a long trail of confused political ramblings and manifesto-like journals which reveal an apparent deep-seated grudge against society.

The former is just business as usual. The latter makes national headlines, stirs up public fear and outrage, and provides fuel for anti-2nd-amendment arguments. Which is why I'm curious to see which group Brainey tries to pin this one on.

Why waste time even thinking of this mentally ill loser with daddy issues, let alone assessing them?

nailed it:

"I remember the parents more than him because they were kind of a problem," recalled Jeremy Cahnmann, who ran an afterschool sports program at Lincoln Elementary School. "There wasn't a lot of love in that family."
