Masks are literally an IQ test for me now; if one thinks they work to stop viral transmission I don't trust anything technical they say. Its an immediate disqualifier.
I had to wear a mask yesterday at a doctor's office, in order to have my daughter tested for strep throat. Masks are still the "norm" in doctor's offices, which seems like the highest form of Kabuki theater to me. In their case I think they're being threatened/coerced to wear them, just like they were threatened/coerced to ignore Ivermectin, HCQ, and budesonide. For everyone else it seems as much like a "red pill, blue pill" test as an IQ test. It's maddeningly stupid to wear masks at this point. Or get the jab.
And in other news, two men busted with 150,000 fentanyl pills surprisingly don't show up for their court date after cashless bail release 24 hours after gettiing busted. Cops are starting to let perps go because it's not worth their own safety to perticipate in the revolving door of criminal justice.
I have a friend who's a part time sheriff's deputy. He used to do warrants. After the mostly peaceful blm protests, he only does paperwork anymore refuses to do anything else. Risk isn't worth the reward when you can do everything right and still end up in prison.

There's no one on the screen placing blame for causing the volcano on some political party or another.
There's no one denying that the volcano is erupting, or conversely, arguing that we're going to continue having more and more volcanoes unless we vote a certain way and pay a certain tax.
There are no misleading infographics which cause the viewer to form an inaccurate understanding of the frequency or distribution of volcanic eruptions.
No one is claiming that volcanoes are inherently sexist or racist, or that they disproportionately affect low-income neighborhoods.
No one is arguing that the volcano is being staged in order to distract us from some other thing.
Or that the information on Hunter Biden's laptop proved that the volcano was going to erupt, but the government kept it quiet.
No one is saying "See, we told you that if you voted for (X), there'd be a volcano!"
No one is hysterically crying that their neighbor's refusal to wear a heat-resistant suit them at risk of being burned by airborne lava. Or making fun of the first group because heat-resistant clothing isn't effective at protecting the wearer against lava.
And... where are all the ads for LavaGuard? Or the blog which promotes the benefits of essential oils in combating volcano-related illness?

But I'm implicitly acknowledging in the above that we are already a post-TV society. There's no longer a guardian of the fourth estate. Which is paradoxically both part of the problem and also part of the solution.
So what's the point of a vaccine if it doesn't protect you from illness (among the other **** it doesn't protect against), if we are going to keep throwing **** on the wall to treat the illness of people who still catch--and suffer from the symptoms of--covid?

But three, I couldn’t help feeling that culturally, we — as a nation — have crossed some kind of line recently. After one mass shooting or another, or after the Charlottesville Unite the Right Rally, or on January 6, 2021, or during the pandemic, when circumstances forced a re-evaluation of a lot of things. Last night, as I was sitting in the audience with the shootings in Buffalo and Uvalde and Highland Park all within the last two months, I kept noticing how many times a Weird Al song centers on the extreme anger and resentment of a young man.
Sure, it can be written off as all in good fun when the speaker in “My Baby’s In Love with Eddie Vedder” suggests he’s going to start stalking Alanis Morrissette to get back at his girlfriend for her fangirl crush on the Pearl Jam singer, but it’s a lot harder to dismiss “Melanie,” a song about a guy who’s spying on a woman through her window and wondering why she won’t go out with him. Is it funny that he gave “a Mohawk to [her] cat”? Maybe it was in 1988, when it was released. What about playing it in the same concert with “Close But No Cigar,” a song about a guy who rejects a series of girlfriends for minor infractions like misusing a word?
