If he wants comfort then he wants ACE's.

Stir vigorously. Install on car. Profit.

There is NOT a one-size-fits-all answer to a Bilstein setup. That's why the thread is long.
props fam.
now alls we got to add is:
3a) what are the few most popular bumpstops and why does one use each
4a) default spring rate for application x y z (street, autox, track, supersomethingorother)
5a) best choices and why

I'm not saying you have to answer the question for every individual 1% case, but if you can answer 98% of the cases, you have done a solid service to the n00bs.

not everyone has time to learn about 720 spring combinations that aren't appropriate for their application, see?

3a) Honda if you're cheap. Integra Prothane if you're not. Size is your deal.
4a) does not exist. Choose your own adventure. Use research gained from general suspension knowledge gleaned from the site. Same spring rate rules apply regardless of shock being used.
5a) The best choice is the one that fits your budget and length needs.

You put together a custom twin disc setup. You shouldn't be struggling with this.

I can tell you exactly what i personally recommend, but that just opens up an argument and at the end of the day is just an anecdote, not a guide. That really isn't a hard thread to get through. Better chance of first try success in reading through it and making informed decisions, instead of using Ben's recommendation and then blaming Ben when you don't love it. I'm not interested in that, and you shouldn't be either.

I'm not building a miata suspension, so there is no struggle. I'm just looking to give people a faster way to get to the end of the process. I get that springs are very specific to your needs, that's fine. All I'm suggesting is that it doesn't require reading 80 pages of ramble to get to that point. I bet someone could summarize it in a few pages. Hopefully someone who has read or written the majority if those pages (because I aint gonna) can maybe cliffs notes some guidelines.

Feel me?

Sure i feel you.

But i also feel equally strongly that someone should read a ton before they try to do this. Imperative that you understand what you're doing, before you do the thing. Otherwise you end up with stuff that doesn't work, and then we have to deal with people saying "bilsteins ride like *** there isn't anything worth buying under Xidas blah blah blah."

A few of us have posted our tried-and-proven formula in that thread (and the last spoon-feeding thread prior to this one) and it was met with "oh god don't do that!" by various people. Vteckiller2000 and i between the two of us have probably done a dozen of these. We like NB B8s, 5x sleeves/perches, Integra speedthane bumps cut to size, extended hats front and rear (Maruha or Goodwin probably... Goodwin doesn't fit in front of NB), 6" Hyperco springs in 550/350.

If the better Billy thread has a single post that encapsulates, then that should be separated and stickied. Unsticky the main thread and just add a link to the encapsulation post.

If there isn't a single post that covers it, then someone needs to draft and post it so it can be stickied. I'd go so far as to locking the subsequent encapsulation post and ask folks to post questions, results and whatnot in the better billy thread.

In short, we make it too hard to parse all the knowledge dispersed throughout the forum. If we want to be the source, the by golly we should index that knowledge. As the "Xida guy", I'll decline to draft it. Many of you reading this are qualified. Once it's posted, we can fine tune and edit until it's solid then lock it.

Perhaps: ITT MT's best NA/NB budget coilover info... or something like that.

Ok.

1) NB B8s
2) 5X Racing sleeves/perches
3) Integra Speedthane "medium" bumpstops cut to appropriate size
4) Springs of a length and rate of your choosing
5) Goodwin hats front and rear if you have an NA. Goodwin rear, Maruha front if you have an NB.
6) Appropriate upper and lower mount bushings and washers to suit your choice of hats/materials

Sticky me, fam.

Why the different upper mounts for NA and NB?
Specify spring rates, diameters, lengths. A tutorial has to answer all potential questions. Remember, you are writing this for newbs.
Your post has the meat but no bread or dressing. Needs to have some context like "If what you are looking for is XX and your budget is less than XX, this is what you need."

Because Goodwin hats don't fit in the front of NBs. NA and NB front shock tower openings are different diameters.

I'm not going to specify spring rates, that's a personal choice depending on use of the car and how accepting your butt is. I like 550/350 6" springs. My car is not your car, and your butt is not mine unless you offer it.

I've got the meat, baby!

Still, I'd offer spring rate suggestions.

Maybe three windows thus

OEM sways, >5" pinch weld. 300 x 7" front / 200 x 8" rear
OEM or aftermarket sways, 4.5-5.5" pinch weld. 450 x 7" front / 300 x 8" rear
1~1.125" front sway, .562 ~.625 rear bar, 4.25~5.25" pinch weld. 550x 7" front /350x8" rear

Those are just guesses, but the giving newbs the guidelines up front save many griefs later.
If we are going to build a locked sticky for this, it should be comprehensive.

The sticky would seem to be only for the people that can't be bothered to read a thread and make their own decisions. I don't profit from these setups, and i like the suspension on both of my cars. Someone else can supply the bread.

I like teaching people how to make fire, not setting them on fire.
