Whoa. Mine don't have those neat boots. Pretty jelly.

Mine used to have the boots, but after several years they disintegrated. The newer endlinks don't come with them, presumably because they don't last.

Finally installed used B6 + 450/350 7" springs on my NB. Ride height is 12,6/13,2 rear (wheel center to wheel arch) Maruha top hats front\rear 38 mm cut Integra bumpstops.
Car rides better than stock (stock was factory Showa)
One small issue - spring rub front driver side only.
Amazed by the ride quality
Thank you for this thread!

Built and installed my budget billies (thanks to this thread) last spring with 550/350 7" springs. I already had FM swaybars front and rear so I left those on, and I was running Dunlop Direzza DZ102 (460TW tire). Car cornered flat, but porpoised on dips on the highway. A few months back I switched to Dunlop Direzza Z3 tires (205/50/15 200TW) and now its so stiff over uneven pavement it makes my teeth chatter. Did I mention I also have a Track Dog aluminum racing seat and 5 point harness? The car is mostly for full day weekend mountain runs, and a few autox and HPDE events per year. I need to make it stop making my teeth chatter though since I need to be able to drive it 4-5 hours to the track or the mountains. Would going back to stock swaybars help? Maybe even just stock front, no bar in the rear? Or keep the FM sways and get softer springs (400-450/300)?

How much travel do you have before the bump stops?

What is the pinch weld ride height?

Extended rear tophats or stock?

New or secondhand shocks?

Adjustment collar stick up above the shock body?

What bump stops?

Something is amiss.

With the suspension still on the car, and the car on jack stands, I measured 1 1/8" Front and 2" Rear.

What is the pinch weld ride height?
4.75" Front and Rear

Extended rear tophats or stock?
Extended 1". Rear does not bottom out. Not hard enough for me to tell anyway, like it did with the Racelands that car came with.

New or secondhand shocks?
Second hand with unknown mileage.

Adjustment collar stick up above the shock body?
No, at the same height or just below.

What bump stops?
Integra bump stops cut down about half way.
Thanks for the super quick response SixShooter.

What will be important is knowing how much shock travel exists with the car on the ground. Up on jack stands does not tell what we need to know.

Your ride height will be on the low end for what you might be able to get away with. Are you running extended front top hats too?

Stock nb top hats up front. Put the car back on the ground and the front bump stops are touching the shock body and the rears are about a 1/4" away. This doesn't sound good. 😣

That may make it ride a bit poorly, haha.

Either elevate the car to 5.25/5.5 and/or put the 1in spacers up front and some 1.5in spacers in the back.

Bilsteins aren't racelands or Xida Race. They have a little bit longer shock bodies and can only get so low without contacting the bump stops unless you extend the tophats. Even still there are limitations. I bet it really rode like garbage, haha.

You want about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of rake between the front and rear regardless of the height (rear higher) for best handling according to what I think I remember from the gurus. Somewhere in there. Something about the geometry.

Cut your bump stops to lengths that make sense. This will involving measuring of YOUR car at YOUR intended ride heights.

Get extended hats for the front.

Enjoy magic carpet.

A couple weekends ago i drove again on a setup i did for a good friend, and it rides so nice that you could legitimately tell someone it was stock and they wouldn't question it. NB B8s, 550/350, Maruha hats all around, Integra Speedthane bumps. It's obnoxious how comfy it is.

Is there a minimum recommended length for the bumbstops? I have to imagine they become useless if they are too short.

You'll hit tire into the body of your car before you hit that length more than likely. Definitely if you have extended hats front and rear like you should.

Bumpstops should be to keep your tire from jamming into the body of your car first and foremost.
