Kmiata - what are you planning for the K20 exhaust manifold?

We're having a custom manifold and downpipe built. Just put a deposit down on it, and we also ordered a Garrett GTX3076R GEN II turbo. Party time!

Depends on final weight of the full trans kit. The driveshaft will be the killer, perhaps you'd want to have one made locally. But we have shipped a number of K swap kits over your way. Usually its a few hundred USD for the entire package which ships in 3 boxes and weighs around 130 lbs.

Hey

even upside down that didn't work. Now it's backwards.

jmann 05-14-2017 03:46 PM

interested

Kmiata just posted the initial group buy on there website, like $2500 for the complete swap kit. Damn good deal for a solid trans option from a legit company.

No gear set is gonna touch that price point

Small snafu lol

Saw the pre-order is for 5 speeds. I'm actually finding it difficult to source a e46 non-M 6 speed.

Do they come on any of the 5 series? I'd really hate to have to swap out my diff after spending a ton on the 3.63 OSGiken. The 6 speed would work out quite well with current setup. If I built a Kmiata, i'd have more leeway to stick with a 5MT.

Looks solid.

I had luck finding a lot of 6 speeds from a 330i (99-06), give that a try?

Where? They only came on the 330i ZHP iirc which is 2003-2006. Just wondering if there's a ZF part number that would make it more universal for search

GS6-37BZ is the ZF 6 speed trans

RMFD-6 SPEED GEARBOX GS6-37BZ - THEG 1 03/2003 23007532498 (Getrag)
RMFD-6 SPEED GEARBOX GS6-37BZ - TBEZ 1 03/2003 23007562725 (ZF)

Why wouldn't the getrag 6 speed counterpart work?

KMiata 07-27-2017 05:20 PM

Yup, initial pre-order is for the ZF 5 speed. Better trans for a race car, but I realize the overdrive 6th gear will be a win for the street guys. The G260 5 speed is also a great option, and actually has a taller cruising gear than the 6 speed. The G260 parts are 99% the same as the ZF 5 speed, just needs a slightly different shifter for optimum shifting dimensions.

Here is the info for the compatible 6 speeds. RealOEM.com is your friend for all things BMW:

psyber_0ptix 07-27-2017 05:41 PM

Holy crap, just plugged that into your gearing calculator. 3rd gear is soooo longggg.

It looks like all the 6 speeds from the 330i around me are from 03-06, but I'm not sure if it's from a ZHP. Looking through realoem, it looks like there are two part numbers for non-m e46 6 speeds

RMFD-6 SPEED GEARBOX GS6-37BZ - THEG
RMFD-6 SPEED GEARBOX GS6-37BZ - TBEZ

Not sure if there is a difference other than one is newer than the other and car-parts.com doesn't show any part numbers.

29 pounds lighter, more compact, cheaper, and essentially the same gear ratios as the 6 speed but without the 6th overdrive gear.

I have this trans in my NB now, currently paired with a 3.73 diff, about to be a 3.91 on Monday as soon as it arrives. Really nice and simple track setup and super easy to work on.
