Oh yeah, I have a 1.6 setup and I love my clutch.

I've put about 150 miles on my SM clutch in the last week and I'm loving it. I had a Clutch Masters FX200 before and was a pain to drive smoothly. The SM clutch is sooo much easier to drive and modulate.

Side note, I read a thread the other day that said that the squeaky noise we hear when clutch is completely out is the result of the clutch master rubbing against the fork... Metal on metal. Did anyone ever think to maybe put a delrin or similar polymer bushing in there to eliminate the noise? Maybe I am just being a nitpicker but it seems like it would have been something cheap and easy to engineer. Next time my car is up on the lift I will look and see how easy it would be to fabricate something. Has anyone solved this "problem" before?

I think the more common solution is a dab of grease.

The hydraulic system is designed for the release "throwout" bearing to rest just off the diaphragm spring when your foot is off the pedal. If you mess with the pushrod so there is no slack in the pedal, it will preload the bearing a bit and wear it out. Also, if you tend to drive with your foot on the pedal when not actually shifting, that wears out the bearing. The inner sleeve of the bearing is plastic so it's not designed for the heat of 100% duty cycle.

Another thing that can kill the release bearing is solvent sprayed in there to clean stuff, rinsing the grease out. Our advice is to not adjust anything when installing our Sport Clutch. Just make sure the system is bled and go drive. The engagement point should be somewhere mid travel. You can lower the engagement point closer to the floor for racing by shortening the pushrod then turning in the cruise control switch to lower the pedal resting position. We do this on all our race cars. Just make sure you don't lower the pedal so much it drags, killing syncros.

Go search on the Clutchnet group buy disaster.

Had a 6 puck sprung hub clutchnet disk on an ACT2600 in my DSM.

Had to massage splines on it with a dremel before it would slide properly on the input shaft.

Would not buy clutchnet again.

Will but Supermiata when my current clutch dies.

I've only got 1 extra tranny pull. Problem is I don't even lift, so I'm indebted countless favors at this point.

I LOVE the 1.6 clutch and flywheel. Not too grabby but won't slip when it does grab. Handles the naturally aspirated power of the new 1.8 all day long.

Watching all that fail happened is why I will only recommend 949, FM, or ACT clutches for a miata.

to those running the sprung ceramic disc, how does it feel on the street ?? engagement/pedal feel ??
