Yes but u are talking about pure meth wich is another animal from Water and meth mix most of us run. Meth will stay vappor alot longer than Water/methanol, but water will hold more heat energy thus doing more cooling.

Right--methanol vaporizes more readily than water. And you want the liquid to fully vaporize before it reaches the wheel.

In other words, water will remain in droplet form longer than methanol. So the higher your concentration of water, the higher the risk of damage to the wheel.

i called AIS about pre turbo spray they told me that it helps cool the hot turbo and can helps increase compressor potential they say that its a small nozzle like 2gph size that is used pre-turbo and that meth injection always works better at cooling the air after the turbo

Yesterday I was at the tuner. Completely independent of my knowledge of this thread I asked him about the begi intercooler setup and he said that it was nice and that it was cheap but not the way to go. Here's what he said, quoted as accurately as I can remember and I will be HAPPY to go ask him any questions you post here and I'm sure he'll answer me if he's got any time.

him: "Water/methanol [aprox. 50/50] injection is the ONLY way to go. I spray it right at the turbine."
me: "Why?"
him: "Well, water/methanol because it just works better. Remember an intercooler only works when your moving. So you're not being cooled while reeving in a parking lot or launching at a stoplight. I shoot it at the turbine because that's where it's most turbulent."

There was more but I can't say accurately what it was so you'll have to ask. This guy has been around as long as corky. He's pushing 70 and has been a tuner / dealer of FI since the 60s and has now "retired" to the odd project (my car!) and the building of kit cars to order.

He being from the 60's springs from a predominatly roots blower sdc sbf market. Do as i say and play with your ratios and you will find a medium for octane and cooling sucess to maximize hp and torque. IC does only work when air moves through it this is correct.

IC is a huge heat sink. If it's say 80*F and you start blowing a bunch of 300*F air through it, the air exiting will be cooler. The intercooler cools the air. The air ouside of the vehicle cools the intercooler. You can do a boosted launch and have AIT's in check and once you're moving air will keep the IC cool and you're fine.

That said WI is awesome.

tuner sounds like an Idiot...pre-turbo water injection is almost as stupid as post engine nitrous injection

Wait a minute.

I believe you may be onto something here.

Imagine: post-engine nitrous injection coupled with Direct Exhaust Injection!

Why, with these two technologies combined, we could Rule The World!

I've seen post engine nitrous injection on a drag car. Used to spool a huge giamongous turbo that the engine alone could not even spool.

If you think that you should give corky a call. He backed up the claim to me over the phone that if you are going to inject without an intercooler you should shoot it pre turbo. Where's the "owned" smiley? this'll work:

Funny, we've been doing it for years and have not had any problems and will continue to use it. Turbo's and centrifugal's. Also, we literally have hundreds of users running pre-compressor injection who have not had a problem. So it's not as if were relying on one or two cars for results. It it were a problem. We would have a big problem.

I will be utilizing a Devils Own 1 gph nozzle pre turbo at well as my 5 gph nozzle just before the throttle body. I will report back after installing and driving with the 1 gph.

Pre-turbo is the most effective form of Water Injection... its the only way Id run my water. Just make sure you have a nozzle that provides great atomization...
