I gotta tell ya, after putting all the gauges in the Miata I really miss the data when driving the WRX. I'm seriously considering adding some gauges, I'm just not sure what I want. Oil pressure and oil temp are on the top of my list. Maybe boost?
Mounting is the other question. I don't like anything in the Subaru world except maybe the lower left/lower right cluster mount.
Or maybe I just need to focus on finishing the Miata and leave the poor Subaru alone

30k subaru's are not to be compared with 3k miatas.
My question is this: why would you pay money to run something crappy on your car? Just because the gains aren't that different cause the engine is n/a and doesn't make much power to begin with doesn't mean one isn't better than the other.
I mean it's your money though......so go ahead
I guess I'm over the whole "subaru rumble" after all these years, and would gladly run something that pairs the exhaust primaries correctly resulting in equal distribution and less heat.

I suspect you could get 90% of the gain of header by removing the factory cat and replacing it with a collector.
I'm with TurboTim, I love the rumble. Maybe it's because I haven't owned them before?

invidia v3 catted (with the wg divider/split)
cobb exhaust
Loudness barely went up at all. Drone is very very minimal over stock, and about the same as it was before with just cat back. My AEM cold air is probably the loudest thing on the car right now. The spool and bpv sound is louder than the exhaust.
I have that Magnaflow 14x5x3 muffler I was going to weld in, in place of the tiny cobb resonator, but we saw no need to even do that. We did chop off the tapered "oem style" flange that chokes to 2.5 and weld in a proper 3" too. So it'd be even quieter with the original flange.
The best part is that its running seriously conservative timing and boost. I've still the stock tmic on there, no time to install my Process West, so I'm not even half pushing the car.

So um yeah. Seems like I'll likely be getting one of these things soon...
04 Forester (not sure yet if XS or XT), Automatic
The pro's:
- price
The con's:
- It's been sitting for at least 2 years, so it's likely moldy and icky inside.
- The transmission was making noise when it was parked. I'm hoping it's center diff bearings?
- It was run out of oil... I've been led to believe it was run until it was dry and wouldn't run anymore.
At one point in my life I really wanted a gc8, but this is here and fits the bill for camping/mountain bike hauler/ski trip car better anyways.
Anyone wanna learn me a Subaru, or warn me off picking up a basket case Fos?

it better be almost free with the issues you described.
and no way would I try to rebuild it or fix it. buy donor engine/trans, plop it in over the weekend, move on with life.
they are great
*edit: do what fireindc did and find a low mileage mint engine and trans and just swap over. hit me up if you have any questions
