Thanks for the tips. My roommate actually has the Wideopens on his Miata. They are nice looking wheels. He would probably trade wheels with me down the road if I decided to go with a lightweight wheel.

I went with the FMII intercooler for now for the sake of having a kit that I could drop into the car (more or less) for a cheap price. I got a steal for the kit actually - I basically just paid for the FM core and got the piping for free. Once I save up some more money after I get the car running, I'm definitely going to look at having better piping fabbed together, or go with the FM silicone pipes for less points of failure and more direct air flow.

If you check out my build thread (https://www.miataturbo.net/build-thr...attempt-66942/) I used the same intercooler and ran the piping over the top of the radiator. Depending on the size of your radiators expansion tank, you might be able to avoid the S bend before the throttle body. A friend of mine uses the same intercooler on his track car and he's pushing over 350whp on a GT3071.

Had a solid few hours to work on the car after work today.

Got the fender lines out and bumper off in preparation for the FMIC install. At first glance, it looks like I'm going to end up removing my air conditioning to fit everything. I'm also thinking about deleting my power steering. Clean up that engine bay all nice like :)

Hopefully will be separating the transmission bellhousing tomorrow for the clutch install.

Unfortunately, I was travelling this weekend, so didn't make any progress. But last night I was able to remove all of the transmission bellhousing bolts! Some were a pain, but it actually wasn't as bad as I was expecting. At one point I think I had a breaker bar attached to a 10" extension, attached to a universal joint, attached to a 1/2" to 3/8" adapter, attached to a 12mm.

I removed my CAS, heater core hose, and coil pack to get to the top 2 bolts. I'm very glad I did this. I think my CAS was leaking a little bit (sarcasm, see the picture below). The engine side of the heater core hose was also about to pop.

Should be dropping the tranny tonight. The speedometer cable is very corroded to the tranny case. Going to try to get it off with some vice grips.

Finally got the transmission out last night. Honestly, the hardest part was the 4 electrical connections on top on the tranny. Had to use one of those dental mirrors to see what was going on up there.

She's out! The fluid in the bottom of the bellhousing is coolant that dripped down when I took off the heater core hose yesterday.

My clutch was slipping a bit during autocross, so I was very surprised to see a DK/Exedy clutch in there when I pulled it out. It must be glazed over.

The rear main seal is actually in good shape. I bought some engine degreaser to take care of the nasty-ness left behind from the leaky CAS.

My front fenders were very rusted at the bottom. I pulled them off and was pleasantly surprised to see there were no holes through the rockers underneath, just surface rust. The car is going in for a lot of body work once I get this build done.

Yup, it's behind the passenger seat, stock location.

The install honestly only took about a half hour or so. Take out the passenger seat, it makes it easier to drill. Use a flathead to get the ECU harnesses out of the old ECU. Try to find a buddy to help you pass the MAP line through the firewall, it'll make things much easier. I had roughly a foot or so of extra line too.

Following this closely as I also have a MSPNP and a SR20DET T25 I plan on turbo'n the car with.
<- 94 miata with 99 engine though.

Progress has kind of been on pause since GTA V came out.. :facepalm:

However, I dropped off my flywheel to be resurfaced at a local machine shop, and put in some orders at Rosenthal and Begi including new shifter boots, gear oil, o rings, gaskets, and turbo fittings and parts.

All of those parts should be in this week, and then I can get moving again. I received my oil and coolant lines from Abe at Artech, and they look great!

You should check out my build then! It's a 90 miata with a 99 motor, mspnp, and sr20 t25.

Attempted to clock the turbo after work.... Going to need a lot more PB and heat than I anticipated. Its soaking now.

Compressor or exhaust housing?
Looking at mine the compressor would be a pain with the snap ring but the exhaust is bolted on and in my experience they almost always could use a rap with a rubber mallet to encourage them to break free

I tried to undo the 4 bolts on the exhaust housing side. Wouldn't budge. I'm going to soak them again overnight tonight, and give it another go tomorrow. I may need to bolt the turbo to a workbench to get the leverage that I need.

I also removed the wastegate and tried removing the downpipe studs to drop it some new ones. I got 3 off. One didn't budge, but is in good shape anyways, but the 5th is stripped, so I can't get any nuts on it. Vice grips were slipping. May need to get creative with that one.
