I know everyone will have their own opinions but you had both a miata and wrx at the same time. Right now I have a stage 2 bugeye. My dad just bought a jeep and is planning on selling the 95 miata I helped him "restore". I am seriously considering selling my bugeye to buy the miata and turbo it with a similar setup to yours. So my question is, is a boosted miata really more fun to drive than the wrx?

It's a very difficult question to answer. But the fun factor of the car is definitely the highest of any car I've driven. Is it more fun to autocross the miata? Yes. Would I want to daily drive the Miata year round? No. I see you're from MA. The subie wins the fun factor in the snow. Has the Miata been more reliable than my wrx? No. When you double the horsepower in an older car with many miles, things are bound to wear out and break.

Yeah I understand everyone's situation is different. I actually forgot to say that I will be able to drive the jeep whenever there is snow. So if I ever feel like going to play in the snow that will be an option.

Good weather fun factor a turbo miata wins hands down, every time.
Year round practicality and comfort while still fun, that would describe the scoob.
Just my .02

After dailying both. I wish I never bought my subaru and just bought a shitty miata to beat on daily.

Or a shabby subaru winter DD.

Anyone want to buy my white WRX wagon? :)

There really are so many factors. I'm 6'2'', so fitting in the Miata isn't super comfortable for me. Also if your daily commute is through the city/bad roads, it's going to suck in a lowered Miata lol.

I am definitely going to miss my AWD, but the Speed3 on snow tires will get the job done.

Autocrossed again yesterday. The car is still running a bit hot. After some runs, my temp needle would be at about 1:00. Does anyone know what temperature that relates to? It would come right back down to 11:30 after cooling off after the run.

I need to get some ducting done. I'm thinking that it will still be worth it to do the coolant reroute. From a quick look, looks like it would be easiest to pull the motor to do it. If I pull the motor I think I would also do my motor mounts and delete my A/C. It would also give me a chance to clean up the motor/engine bay. Thoughts?

What did you do? Wreck or mechanical failure?

zrookie 12-25-2014 12:41 AM

Nicely built, inspiring since I got the turbo, IC, and injetors laying around LOL

Since we're guessing I'd say broken turbo from hard spark cut.

Sorry to hear bro... Hope you can get it fix soon. Fun car

I thought it may have been the clutch disc, but after pulling the motor today, the clutch is fine, so it has to be the 5 speed. It makes some pretty wonky noises spinning the input shaft lol. Getting a replacement won't be an issue. While the motor is out, I am also going to do motor mounts, a coolant reroute, and a couple other small things.

Pics below.

Thanks man! The motor was going to be pulled this Winter anyways, now I just had an excuse to get it done :)

Well...that's not right!

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1421950175

Helped a friend do some coolant hoses on his Miata last night. In the meantime I replaced my motor mounts, removed the A/C compressor, and cleaned up some of the turbo lines. I also got the downpipe elbow off the turbo, there were a couple of cross threaded nuts, so I'll have to replace a couple of the studs. Back of the turbo looks great, no shaft play at all.

I believe I need to get an M8x1.25x45mm bolt to replace the one that holds the A/C bracket on the front of the block?
