It has been 34 days since DIY received my MegaSquirt. It should finally be delivered back to the shop today. I am hoping that everything works, and that I can pick up the car this Sunday (unless it snows). Fingers crossed!

what is that adapter like piece you attached to the turbo flange that connects to the piping for the air filter and intercooler? I am in need of them for my turbo haha

Not sure what you are asking for here. The intake piping is custom, made by the shop. The intercooler piping is old FMII piping.

If you're asking for the flange adapters for the sr20 t25, I used these: Turbo Compressor Inlet Outlet Adapter Flange Garrett GT25 GT28 T25 T28 SR20DET | eBay

Just be sure to think about where you want your wastegate signal coming from. If you're taking it post intercooler, you'd want adapters more like this.

^Good call!

Leach0789 01-28-2014 04:47 PM

Received the Megasquirt, and it seems to be functioning correctly. However, now the car is only firing correctly on 3 cylinders. Our guess is that the malfunctioning MS fried the coil pack :| I have a working coil on the way. So hopefully some good news soon.

After nearly a month back and forth with DIY (AGAIN), it appears to be another Hardware issue. The MS was shipped back to DIY yesterday.

After 3 months, DIY has finally agreed to send me a new ECU. It will be shipping Monday.

Seems like they've been really backed up there, my neighbor's one of the owners nephew and they wouldn't even look at his car for weeks and weeks when he was having ms related problems. Can't wait to see this together and working, best of luck

Leach0789 03-19-2014 10:54 AM

Received and it is working. Just waiting for it to be tuned now.

Ds1 03-19-2014 11:32 AM

Let me know how the tuning goes, I have been stuck getting the idle tuning down with my MS3X. It oscillates all over the place until it dies, but ONLY when its warm, not cold. We'll see if you have the same problem considering the similar setup.

Posting to lurk later. Sick build so far man.

Leach0789 03-21-2014 09:33 AM

FINALLY some good news :D The tuning began on the car yesterday, and I was planning to pick it up this weekend, but when I came home from work, my friends had surprised me and the car was in my garage :)

Mechanically, it is running perfect! It will need a couple more hours of tuning next week, and then should be running perfect! Right now its running 8 psi, but I'm planning to run an EBCS and my target boost will be around 12 psi.

Here's a short video I took on my way into work this morning: Instagram

I have a ton more work to do next week to get the car buttoned up. It's in desperate need of a cleaning, and I have a lot of loose parts from the tear down that I need to install.

Many many more updates, pictures, and videos to come!

Congrats! Good timing too as I assume spring will eventually come around.

Thanks! Spring started to peak its head out, then Winter came and bashed it over the head with a 17 degree temp this morning. We're supposed to be getting snow Tuesday night -_-

Got a few more miles on the car so far, and everything is still running fine.

Drove it a few more times this week. So far, so good! It still needs some more tuning, so its running a bit rich still...but that means 2 foot fireballs :D I'm gonna try sticking my GoPro on the back and see if I can capture one.

I'll also have to get some footage from inside the cabin for you guys. The catless DP and APS BOV sound like heaven :)

I'm taking it to Boston this weekend to have the rocker rust looked at by a body guy that I know. My original plans were to have all of the body work done in February. But DIY ruined those plans. Hopefully he can fit me in soon.

The largest local group out here, MassTuning, is hosting their first meet of the season on April 12th in Boston, in memorial of last years marathon events. I think I will be there with the Miata.

Hopefully the weather breaks soon! 20* this morning on my drive to work.

Pictures....so dirty. Needs a detail so bad.

How are you piping your intake hoses to your IACV, if at all? (on the cold side of the intercooler). Well done on all this!

shuiend 03-28-2014 11:57 AM

I just read through the whole thread for the first time since I now have a 97 montego that I am planning on boosting with the same t25 that you are running. Overall it looks very well done. There are a few small things that I would have done differently. I would have gotten the car running on the MS before starting any of the other installation process. It just makes it easier to track down problems with doing the install in stages. Secondly I would have used a different clutch. This just comes from seeing cheaper clutches fail, and then having to redo the work. To me its worth a bit extra to know I am buying quality parts.

I agree wholeheartedly. MS was the death of me.

As far as the clutch, it should hold up fine for the power levels that I want to be at. I also got it at wholesale price, couldn't pass it up.
