Awesome work. I'd be down for some ducting too if you ever take orders. I'm curious, though, doesn't punching holes in the radiator cover kinda defeat the purpose? Is it small enough that not a lot of air escapes through it?

Thanks! I may have some spares I'll let go after I finish...part of my plan this weekend is to do the final fit and finish on that air dam....it's been ready to pop in for a while, but I got some massaging to do on it to make it fit to the point where it looks like I know what I'm doing, lol!

Maybe? I just wanted a cover to clean the look up...and the letters are only 1.5" tall and will be right up against the radiator when its formed and installed so I don't think they'll have any negative effects....the other holes were all mandatory to fit it in there.

Thanks!

Just finished up the drivers side headlight cover. My original plans were to use some 1/16" plexi from work, a jig saw (Skil Knife Edge Blade), and a heat gun...but as you will see, the plexi was just to brittle. The other day when I finished up my license plate frame, I had picked up two polycarbonate plate covers one of which I am using. A light bulb went off in my head just as the plexi started to crack and shatter, "**** it, I'm hackin up that other plate cover...its only a few bucks if it doesn't work!". Let me tell ya, that stuff is awsome and damn plyable. In a few pics I am bending the scrap to show you how far it can be bent, and it never did snap or crack for that matter. To go around the cover I just used some 1/8" vaccum hose....on to the pics, as usual there are a ton!

Heat gun worked good! Figured I would try it even though the plexi was a no go!

That looks awesome!

How are you getting the covers to keep their shape?

Actually they hold their shape with just the screws....I made them a little longer than they needed to be so when it was screwed in place, the extra material would make the center bow....the hose also helps since it is contacting both the top and bottom of the turn signal opening allowing me to kinda move it to where I want and not have it move on its own very easily.....I know, real scientific, lol, but it seems like it will work after getting it in there.

As much as you probably don't wanna spend the $$ it'll prolly be cheaper and nicer if you just bought some oem units off ebay like me...I mean for between $150 and $250 you can get the bulbs, ballast, and projector unit (Which will have the cutoff plate, be sealed, and have the correct lens for hids)...

The only way I can think of now to seal your current headlights it by fitting them in some pvc or something....f-that, just wait until you can get the right ones, it'll be easier and you'll be much happier with the end result! I'm waiting for someone to under take this project....I can't be the only one with'em

Off to finish the passenger side and start fitting that damn dam!

Well, once again, I didn't get to the damn dam because I was jones'n for a drive, but the headlights are pretty much done!! The only other thing I may screw with is mounting the ballasts better and trying to keep them water tight somehow....Here are the some final pics of how the headlights came out. I may add a few more once I pull the car out of the garage again where I can have some more room to get better pics, but I'm sure everyones getting tired of looking all the damn pics I've been posting, lol! The last two are of the heat shield I made up which is looking better the more I drive....last weekend I had finally gotten around to taking a die grinder to it and then clearing it using some high temp clear and yesterday I got some cool bronzing after a good and long heat cycle.

You cost me money with this thread. I really hate our barn doors. I've always wanted to do that headlight/turnsignal opening mod along with every third person here. I had bought some fog/driving combo lights from Hella's cheap division Optilux to do something like that Piaa 3000 mod but never installed them. The $50 optilux and even the $300 Piaa's aren't a legal headlamp. Your using the projectors should be a perfectly legal mod! I have some $180 used bi-xenon projectors, bulbs, ballasts coming off ebay now because of you. Yet another project I will never actually complete. Damn.

Doing the HIDs will actually be illegal on any car that isn't HID from factory.
Plus dismantling it removes it from the entire DOT approved setup :P

On that note though... I'm doing the same project at some point. Have had 2 sets of FX35 headlights waiting for me to dismantle them for like a month now. Just have to get unlazy.

Splitime is right on them being illegal on any car except the one where they were original equipment, but who cares!! Be careful with those bixenons...might be too big for the opening since they tend to be quite a bit bulkier than just low beams because of the shutter mechanism on the side of the housing. Glad to have inspired ya, I've been waiting for someone to jump on this wagon with me! Make sure to post some results!

THE MAN FROM THE FRONT PAGE!! Your cooler than me, this website told me so! Anyways, the FX35 projectors should be REAL nice. The nissan lenses tend to have a nice color spectrum! Make sure to post up pics as well

Is there any way we could get a template posted for those clear covers? I want to make some covers like that.
