In attempts to get the car ready for warmer weather I've been trying to tie up some loose ends....Radiator had a small hole in it so I had it repaired at a shop locally. My car's PO just used zipties to attach the fan (which is okay), so I think it was just a case where the zip tie and fan chaffed a small hole over time. In anycase, to try and avoid this happening again I decided to make some aluminum brackets to hold the fan. While I was doing that, I noticed that my IC bracket had seen better days, so today at work I punched & formed up a new heavier gauge one. Then tonight I had the itch to keep on working, so I grit my teeth and hacked off more of my fender and bumper to finally deal with the front tire clearance issues (On the drivers side at least) I'm still going to have to trim the inside lips on the flares at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions though to maximize clearance. Anyone have any advice on the best way to cut fiberglass??.....on to the pics

In this pic you can see the lip I am talking about on the flare at the 9 o'clock position.

Should be pretty easy with a nice, fast cut off wheel. I'd be careful, but confident with my $10 harbor freight angle grinder and a $3 wheel.

That fan will do next to nothing for you without a shroud. I had both my fans on constantly in 100* weather and I kept over heating at idle, never had the problem with stock fans so I'm going back. Also look into the zip ties that go through the radiator to hold the fan, much lighter and stealthier than your design (no offense). Although the fans sucked, those zip ties (which are padded) held the fans on great during a couple track days.

This is what I'm talking about:
Nylon Universal Zip Tie Fan/Oil Cooler Mounting Set

Well, most everyone I talked to said dremel, so I went out first thing this morning and picked one up. I ended up using the 561 dremel bit which cut like butter. Got plenty of room now

Today at work I started to get a itch to go for a drive, even though its about 20 degrees out . Despite not having heat or windows, I loaded up the dog and went for a rip. How I went so long without driving my car is beyond me. Here's a pic of the car warming up....outside of the garage for once Wheels look hot right! God you guys should see the looks this car gets...usually everyone is like WTF!?

Yeah dude, its been killing me not driving the miata for so long.

I cant wait until the warm weather gets here and I finally get to clean it up and take it out daily. We'll have to get a CT/NE cruise together once spring hits.

Hey, just out of curiosity, are you planning on putting that carbon wrap on the hood? I think I saw somewhere that you were, like a PS'd picture of the hood of your car where you plan on laying the wrap. Did you take into account the heat from the turbo and hood temps possibly bubbling and melting it? Forgive me if it was already discussed, I was just outside having a smoke standing near the miata after I saw this thread and I thought about it.

We definitly have to do a gtg....theres quite a few of us now in CT. I am planning to put the wrap on the hood and windshield surround. I'm going to taper it from each corner of the hood by the windshield down to the corners of the bumper scoop...then the rest of the bumper will be white. From what I've read, this stuff is supposed to withstand quite a bit of heat, but I do plan on putting some reflective heatshielding on the underside of the hood too.

IT'S LIKE CHRISTMAS!!!!
These wheels exceeded my expectations. The matte black finish is really nice and its amazing how light these feel for being a 9" rim. Christ I think my 15x7 Kosei's weigh more.

I also got the 949 subframe brace kit...they fit perfect, even in the rear with the stock bracing.
