Congrats. This thread took a fantastic turn. Even though your build was delayed a fair amount, it looks like you bought what is probably the most cost effective used turbo in forum history.

If your motor was burning oil, would you boost it or start with a rebuild?

Mine burns a quart per 800 miles, but I did a compression and leak down and it's running strong. I top it up when needed and never give it a second thought.

engines with good compression and leakdown numbers, dont usually burn oil. just sayin'.

I'm thinking that is part of the reason why on my simple street tune, I am only getting VD at 84whp peak. Even at I beleive like 25-27* at peak torque. I had to back off in low load areas because it would ping as well.

did you do comp/ld to actually verify.
blowby could be from something like pcv but cause what you describe

I have 2-5% leakdown to two cylinders. I recall Andrew calling it a good running engine.
Could be my valve stem seals, but probably rings.
