That's kind of what I mean, at speed, I'm great, but red light to green light, building some boost, my temps should be solid with just one OEM fan on a crossflow? Even at much higher boost levels, basically nearing yours now.

***Aidan isn't in a hot part of the world.
A full fan shroud and a 17in or greater Spal or two properly functioning stock fans sealed to the radiator are necessary here with over 200whp at the track if you have an A/C condenser in the way. Over 250whp required an oil cooler. The giant Spal doesn't block airflow like a smaller fan would. There's lots of open space.
The fan shroud or dual fans prevent reversion of hot air when sitting still and make a huge difference in traffic with the A/C, fwiw.

It was 95* at autox this weekend. sealing a spal to a radiator with a cookie sheet blocks off a ton of usable area. If your fans are on while track driving you need better ducting. No fan that fits in a miata engine bay will move as much air as proper ducting.

the OEM's use a flapper of sorts that blows open when there is a head pressure in the fan shroud (aka when your driving). you could easily incorporate that into any kind of shroud you have.
This is a well documented visualization of what im talking about. it is a viper, but even my MINI had this.

no problem.
I cant remember the source, but I found the rubber flaps available on summit racing... maybe a SPAL product now that im thinking about it.
EDIT* Here is a link to the SPAL flap.

not sure how they mount, but they are cheap and would be easy to incorporate.

I had to drive the miata out to meet up with some car buddies for tacos and so (without Vlad's guidance, and I think this is where it goes wrong) I pulled out the laptop, did just a bit of fuel autotuning WOT and cruising. Then I noticed it was making a bit more popping sounds than normal.
My buddy saw something and told me to test it.
So there you have it, all the ricers who want a "flame tune" like the VQ35/37 guys, just have Vlad tune your car and drive it without tuning any of the vacuum load fuel cells.
