It hit a peak of 16psi, so I think I either:
1.) Have a medium boost actuator
2.) My wastegate is getting stuck closed or partially open or something similar.

 

Not having looked at your log, are you saying you hit 210kpa with your boost limit at 185kpa?

Just 1/2 a turn off preload maybe, boost signal line popped off somewhere?

 

Yes, that's reading my log in PSI instead of map, I think map was much closer to 185kpa. I'm going to check my vacuum lines.

I'll try less preload.

It peaked fast, if you read the log. I think it went from 9 to 10 slowly (normally) and then spiked in probably less than a half second to 16psi, ecu was probably trying to shut things down before it hit that.

 

Sounds a lot like when I had my wastegate misaligned. 7lb spring and it would hit 11 then creep to 16.

 

Did the turbosmart wastegate actuator fix it?

 

That was with the turbosmart. The rod was binding, re-clocked the compressor housing and it worked fine.

 

My car maxes at 5psi on a 6758. So 2 people.

 

Yeah, binding is no good.

 

What's dumb is I left it exactly how it came from BW. Lol.

I adjusted it by clocking the chra/compressor by a couple mm and played with the wastegate actuator mounting. It feels a bit smoother. I don't have to move the rod at all to get the wastegate arm sliding onto the rod. Hopefully that'll fix it. I'll know tomorrow.

Wastegate alignment fixed it.

Note to anybody that stumbles across this (most efr guys have figured this out before me) is that even like 1mm or so of bend in the rod, effectively less than a 10* angle, will cause the wastegate rod to bind and you'll overboost / crazy boost creep.

Holds 8psi all the way to redline now.

Also, is your VE table set up well enough for you to go to redline?

 

Maybe I'll get one tomorrow. I hit overboost at like 11psi at about 6500rpm in 2nd after not hitting it earlier today, so I am going to try to make the wastegate rod even closer to perfect. I have the wastegate rod nut at that same 3 turns, maybe less this time. Just flush to the end of the rod.

And, possibly, I think I am still in the 10AFR after 5500rpm.

 

After find that video of Aidan's wastegate alignment where it literally slides off,mine could be even better.

I may also have the same issue he did where the bracket itself isn't quite right as mine was kind of like that. Hard to describe but it just feels like the bracket needs another ~5* bend in it.
