You could take a piece of silicone or rubber and ziptie it around the radiator hose so it rubs against that instead. Think of it as a buffer zone. It's what I did with my FM intercooler piping since the piece I got was for an NB and not an NA, but the fitment was so close that all I had to do was this and it's worked well.

Thanks guys, might even do a combination of those two things. I considered getting an extra hose as per the "revlimiter" reroute, as so:

But I almost feel this would be a downgrade in aesthetics and would create an extra failure point where the two hoses merge, so I'll probably keep the single hose!

I like to use pieces of other silicone tubing as buffer zones, then ziptie everything together in such a way that the ziptie is also contacting the buffer zone, instead of the tubing being protected. The ziptie will eventually saw through stuff too if there's any movement or vibration.

Just put a little lubricant on the hoses and let them slip against each other like hoses are meant to do. Nobody else will know. It'll be our secret.

Looks like yours is making more "contact" than mine is. Any noticeable problems with that setup? I'm gonna run mine and just keep an eye on it.

Some updates from today.

First I got this charge pipe welded up with my BOV flange earlier this week. Today I drilled/tapped it for a nipple. This is where I'm going to source my wastegate boost signal from, its POST intercooler. Bleh pic sucks, but you get the point.

Next I went ahead and pulled the FMIC. I drilled/tapped the coldside endtank for my IAT sensor. Then I JB welded that ****** in place. I do not foresee any issues with this.

Then I said **** it, no more rice. I blacked out the FMIC.

Curly, this ones for you. My upgraded wastegate bracket. Once bolted in place I tested it. No flex, at least not enough to worry about. Greatly improved from the earlier revision.

While this was all drying I re-painted my charge pipes. Why not..

Not that i know of. Nothing seem to be wearing out at all, so i just go with it.

I have the M-tuned reroute coming for my rebuild.
I'm not sure how this will work, but i'll be posting results in my build.

Nice, that wastegate bracket looks beefy. Speaking of which, my next beef is your charge pipes. Reason "why not" to not paint them: aluminum doesn't rust, but paint chips.

Haha, your next beef will be that these are not aluminum charge pipes. Mild steel ones. They are from my old "jimb" greddy intercooler kit I bought back in 07.

Will be going aluminum eventually for the weight savings. For now these painted black will work and look alright.

*Edit: I'm going to go ahead and say yeah, given the stack of magazines

And the roll of TP on what looks to be a door handle.
Though, it's a little to far away for my comfort.

LOL, you guys crack me up. Yeah it works, it's my makeshift "painting booth", as you can see from the red paint on the toilet, lol. The roll on the doorhandle is masking tape, the TP is stashed on the other side of the toilet.

Did some work on the car last night. Got the painted charge pipes in place. Wastegate bracket bolted up for good. Intake on for good. IAT wired in. Some vacuum line routing done.

Man these small things take waaaaaay longer than expected. Whatever, I don't mind. I'm being a bit of a perfectionist this time around because I don't want to have to re-do anything.

Should start it this weekend. "Should". Well, at least I'll attempt to.

On a side note, I found some Federal 595 RS-R's for 110$ each with free shipping. I'm also going to buy a set of wheels soon, so tired of my 90's "tuner" enkies made for a civic.

Right now looking at a set of white konig flatouts in 15x8 +25. White+blue, am i crazy? I actually dig it.. I really don't like any of the other color options, i'd probably go for a gunmetal grey of some kind if i had a choice. If i hate the white ones I could easily paint or plasti dip them. What do you gays think?

Ahhhh . . . the wisdom of age and experience.

I think that looks sharp. Maybe a white racing stripe down the middle or offset a bit to the side!

Exactly man, in my younger days I would have slapped this motor in in a weekend or two. This time I went over everything with a fine toothed comb, cleaning everything, doing all the gaskets that could possibly fail, resurfacing flywheels and all the manifold/downpipe/exhaust surfaces, tucking the wiring just how I like it, painting the engine bay where it needed, charge pipes, etc. I like to think I've done most things "right" this time around. Time will tell.

The white looks better than I first imagined. not a huge fan of stripes, I'm going to re-paint my car after all this motor stuff is finished and have a few ideas to "spice" it up.

The first idea on the pain is to add some black to the standard mariner, and make it just a touch darker. The other idea was the opposite of that, adding some pearl to the paint to give it that glimmer. Either way I like the solid blue look, and it will be painted some form of mariner blue, hardtop and all. Probably will color match my front lip too.

But for now, I need tires. And I'm not buying tires for these wheels that I hate. Just gotta figure out the set of wheels I want and pull the trigger.

So I found some parts on craigslist I'll be picking up shortly. 1990 dash with no cracks (mine has many, lol), set of taillights(i need one, my dad accidentally broke it in the garage), a full set of control arms front and rear, and a 1994 BP with 100k miles and good even compression. $500 for all of it.

Deal? I think so...

I like the white wheels man. I've thought about it many times for my car, but can't quite decide if it's too "look at me". I do like the way the white rollbar in that photo helps make the wheels less striking, though. That's maybe the shiniest Mariner paint I've ever seen lol.

I'm not a huge fan of white wheels, and I would guess that cleaning them would make me even less of a fan.
