Very nice, I just picked one up in similar condition. They are great cars.

Don't touch it. Sit on it for another 10 years. Sell it for 3x what you paid.

I would do tasteful easily reversible mods to it and do the above

BlackBandit 09-12-2014 03:03 PM

They only body parts I'm modifying are the authentic and proper way of doing a 99 spec front bumper and lip with 99 tails. I will be ordering either volks or works for my wheels and either bc coilovers or teins for suspension. I will be keeping original manufacturer parts.

I like your style. I have similar plans. Reliability mods, oem exterior bits( oem skirts, 99 tails, and a stock r1 lip) and wheels.

these cars are sweet.

More FD pics please. I keep coming back to this thread for sexualness.

I just performed a fluid change for the transmission and the differential with 2.5 quarts of royal purple 75w90 in the transmissionand 1.5 in the diff.

I had documents that it was changed at 93k and the car is at 126k. The transmission fluid look clean. It might even have been done last year I'm not sure. The receipt though that I have shows 2005 is when it was performed at 93k. The differential however looks like it was never changed. It was murky unlike the transmission. All the nuts came off easy with pb blaster, wire brushing around the bolt, and tapping the 1/2 inch drive 24 mm socket with a rubber mallet. Only bolt to give me a sweat was the fill plug in the transmission. But still I was successful.

Car feels amazing now. Wow. I love gear oil.

the car was professional washed, claybar, wetsanded, waxed, and finally sealed yesterday.

These are a couple shots of it in the driveway which is lame but here you go...

so while i was doing the fluid change i found out that the car has a megan racing downpipe to reduce the heat soak caused by the oem catalytic converter. I also found out that the differential fluid was changed at the same time as the transmission gear oil was performed. I went through the records and confirmed.

I fall in love with it more everyday. I'm so lucky to have this car with its history, maintenance, and ownership.

to be honest I dislike the fog lights. and the OEM front lip. I know there is a more aggressive option for the FD, you just have to look for it.

EDIT: Corksport sells it. 99 SPEC (J-SPEC) RX7 Front Lower Lip Spoiler:

Beautiful car!

turbofan 09-16-2014 08:16 PM

Yeah, that black one is better indeed. I think he said he plans to do that though, or am I wrong?

BlackBandit 09-16-2014 08:50 PM

I do plan doing a complete 99 spec swap minus side skirts and spoiler. And the bumper without the front license plate. Yes it's expensive but I am not cutting short.

StealthNB 09-16-2014 08:51 PM

Corksport sells the JDM urethane bumper assembly too, but it costs like 2000 bucks, it includes everything tough.
99 SPEC (J-SPEC) RX7 Front Bumper Assembly

turbofan 09-16-2014 08:52 PM

oooo... without the front plate? In montego blue?
