I can already tell I'll be wanting more!! I'm on the start for components to build the '94 block DP gave me...
The mani and studs/bolts holding it held fine, I did manage to sling one of the exhaust housing to manifold bolts, and the others were loose. I'll have to go back through and retorque everything. I learned I was missing one of my oil pump housing bolts?? Was weeping right above the oil drain line off the turbo where the housing meets the pan. Anyway, was blowing oil up on the manifold, downpipe and causing a little smoke.... never got the meatball though. I sat out the last session on sunday b/c of the things I found.
I did have a strange occurance at the end of my second session... I was maybe a little below half tank, cornered #5 hair pin and started to accel up the hill and I lost all power as if I was out of fuel. The engine just bogged down then finally stalled. I pulled off and waited maybe 30sec then tried restarting, a little fluttter, waited another 20sec with the pump on and it fired right up. My only guess was that I was able to suck up some air rounding that left turn hairpin... never happened since, but I was topping my tank off every session after too.
I LOVED the NT01s!! I'm so glad I actually listen to some of you guys!! We had rain Sunday morning and the RA1s did an awesome job too! And the OSG was amazing! It felt strange at first but quickly got used to it. The 1st 2 sessions my instructor thought I was getting close to losing the rear end, but I assured him it was the OSG kicking in. And I was pleasantly suprised to find my shift points were much the same with the 3.9 R&P in. Everyone watching loved the BOV... some didn't know what it was. Must be the V8 guys...
The XP12 front/10 rear combo did really well with the stock proportioning valve... I was able to get some trailbraking in the vid, not that I was trying! The nice blue paint on the 12's turned white... I hope that's normal!
Here are some pics of the weekend and a vid of the last session on saturday, which was by far not my fastest. The dam GoPro I borrowed from a friend kept turning off?? I'd get 40secto 2miin vids then it'd quit... really pissed me off b/c I was having fun playing with a GTR and and EVO later Sunday. Had a lot of guys coming over to see what the hell was making me so fast
1st had to document what made my rear end feel so smooth... other than a razor blade...
Some track pics with the H&R 20mm spacers and vented hood which isn't totally finished...
And the video... this GoPro with this lens really doesn't do the tightness of the corners any justice...

Sucking air makes sense though. Did you have any violent bucking that initiated the loss of power? I would think that the pump would suck fuel air fuel air as the fuel was getting further away from the pump causing a stuttering. Then again, turn 5 is hard and immediate. It may immediately put the pump in fuel starvation.
Side note, What brand decklid spoiler are you running? I want one like that.

I'm not sure what deck spoiler it is? Was on the car when I got it... I'll check the starter leads for tightness, can't hurt!
Thanks for the C, still not as nice and shiny like yours!
I yanked the turbo tonight and will take it to my builder for inspection just to see if there is anything bad going on... other than knocking the crap out of my stock 1.6 Talked with Emilio and will hopefully be adding a GTC200 wing, those nice sport mirrors he has, and an IQ3 dash logger before next track day... if an engine doesn't come first.
Did I mention how I had to block off the upper half of the radiator with cardboard just to keep it running about 180? The first session it was about 70F and after a 30min session wasn't even to C on the temp gauge yet! Thats' when I thought I'd better do something... on the reverse side, I melted my dipstick loop. Guess I better sheild it too!

Turbo is all good! No excessive shaft play fron to rear, compression check on all cylinders showed 190ish, plugs looked fine. Next track day is Road Atlanta on May 17th... hopefully I'll have that GTC200 wing on by then, should help out a lot in the S turns. Seems that other than my instructor, we'll be the only miatas on course? Oh well, time to do some whoop *** on the vetts and porsches

Not sure on that one... that might have been the pull when we kept the WG shut and he was trying to throttle it at 12lbs... it quickly hit the 14lb over-boost cut very fast. Since then I've got a 10lb WG spring in and talked with him yesterday about getting back on the dyno to see if it resolved the problems. Either it was the WG spring, or something in the boost controller isnot set right. I did see one time on track that I hit boost cut coming out of a corner... it should never reach BC so I'm still suspicious that the controller isn't working right.
I'm still game for a Zero theme, I've just been spending my money on things that actually make me faster ... here's a pic of the original photoshop job I did over my miata before meeting the airbrush guy (I actually have this graphic in full scale)... I might have my graphic buddy make a rendition of a torn up flag on fire and the bullet holes... add some smoke for effect... maybe a mix of both vinyl and airbrushing... should look (and run) sweet at Dixie SCCA region Axis vs. Allies held in Georgia http://www.dixiescca.com/ava08/

Well, quick update...
Since the PBOC weekend, I took the babe to Hux and let him install the wilwood proportioning valve in the cabin on the pass side tranny tunnel so I can easily reach over and adjust. I'll have to get a pic of that.
While also there, we retuned at 15psi and was able to squeak out the 225 I was after. Plot below. He said he could smooth out the upper rpm band by advancing timing, but said I'd be safer just running rich, esp with using pump gas. We found out that what the factory says to do, wasn't quite the right thing to do. The controller was giving us a nasty boost spike then drop to WG pressure. Learned that the Gate pressure setting was set too high even when set to what the factory said, 3psi below boost setpoint. We turned it down to like 3psi and no more spiking! Imagine that...
Garrett T3, .42AR with a 50 trim
While on dyno, making pulls, there was no oil leaking, plugs looked great, maybe some turbo smoke when you let off throttle. We took it for a spin and started to notice some smoke coming out the hood... pulled in in and the whole freaking bottom right side pan was dripping oil, oil spray up on heat sheild, downpipe... crazy. I suspect I was pushing oil out the dipstick tube connection flange/hole as I was over filled with oil, and under accelleration, was pushing more oil to the rear of the pan, burping it out the tube connection. Under normal dyno pulls there's no leaking, anywhere so it's not a high pressure leak. Anyway, I dumped some oil to the proper levels, tried again and no leaking. I'll install a new o-ring on the tube just to make sure.

Well, it was bound to happen eventually. Especially when you're putting 1000hp out of a 4 cylinder like my ***** car is... So you're saying wtf? This is actually out of a drag MR2; JE piston, Crower rod... seems the ARP rod bolts gave way and one loud ca-chunk! From Hux racing...
My fighter is in for it's zero themed paint job... it's gonna look awesome when it's done. These are very rough sketches to give him an idea of which way he's gonna go... god I hope I don't wad it up! At least it'll look good on camera if I do-
The GTC200 wing and front hub bearings are on the way from 949 (thanks Emiliio!) and I hope I can get them installed this weekend as I'll be at Road Atlanta next Monday, beating up on the vettes, beamers, and porsches. Also picked up some Alumalite to make the splitter, my turnbuckle mounts should be fabbed up in a day... hopefully will work well!
Think it got hot last track day???

It'll look pretty good as the Jap flag will be tattered and torn and on fire, add some 50cal bullet holes/strafing, cockpit rivets, smoke, fire... trying to go for the "Goin' down for the kill in a blaze"
It'll turn some heads, ruffle some feathers, make some vomit... but what do I care? I'll need to get a sticker that says "Mazda would have built it better"

I like the paint theme. I favor the more subdued version that is up a few posts in this thread. You could still add bullet holes to that one. When do you think you will be making a trip up this way?
I got the car fire up Bryan. Just waiting on my FCM mounts so I can set it on the ground for break in and tuning.

Paint job looks like a big red flower to me. Maybe that's appropriate for a Miata, but not for your car. Your car deserves something as unique as it IMO.
Last time I saw the jap flag paint job done, there was a good reason. It was right after the SCCA classified the original CIVIC for HP (class always populated with Brit cars) and a friend built one- to the limit. Showed up at the runoffs with a white civic, big rising sun paint job and left with a national HP title.
