You bet! I plan on attending the NASA Aug 7-8th event at RA... will put the air ducting to test!

Put up some of the vids from RA and Barber - both event gave me some great wet-track experience - and white knuckle driving!

Road Atlanta w/Chin 5-17-10

Barber w/BMWCCA 5-30-10 Some wet track fun!

Thanks man!

Spend the weekend at Road Atlanta with NASA-SE... what a great group! Learned several good things this weekend... like my fat *** weighs too much! Finally put the car on scales and with me in it tipped the scales at 2436, which means the car it's self is roughly 2200lbs. Also learned to make sure to have neg angle on the front splitter... don't eyeball it! I happened to spin it coming out of 10b uyp the hill to the bridge... I just wasn't fast enough. Vid to come. And speaking of tires... any of you try some continentals? I bought a set of take offs from the mini-cooper team and tried them out this weekend... scared the crap out of me in the back straight. Sat I was running my 15x9 6uls with NT01s (225-45) which felt and responded great... put these slicks on (15x7, 225-45) and the car was tracking all over the place in the back straight. I'm sure the neg camber has much too do with it - have to put it on the rack and see if something got out of wack. Also HAVE to upgrade this suspension... these 500F/300R rates are way too soft. Anyone in the market for a GC setup with Koni Yellows with these 500/300 Eibachs? Vids to come...

Here's some of the RA vids...
As I mentioned, the car ran like a champ in the 98F heat and kept running even though I managed to down shift from 5th to 2nd! That sucked ***** - lucky I didn't lock the rear and spin off track! Think that was Sun session 3

Don't know what's up with the embedded info...

Thanks Mark! I'm going to have re-do the last one - seems to be in the wrong aspect ratio.

Man, road Atlanta looks fun. Are you running the mtuned big brake kit, wilwood, or still on stock stuff. I'm sure it's in the build thread, but I'm lazy and in the middle of studying.

The the V8R front kit is on my list of "things to get" - but for now, just running the 1.8 brakes (Brembo slotted front rotors) with ducting. Carbotech xp12 on front, XP10 on rear. Have my rear bias maxed out and still can't get the rear to lock if I tried. I might have to try 12s on the rear and 10s on the front.

are the rears heating up too much and just not biting? I've got tge hawk blacks on mine and i think i have my valve set to 65 turns. 7 turns locked up the rears. then again im sure i wasnt running as hard as you at barber. ss brakelines? what speeds were you hitting at RA inthe long stretches.

135 in the back straight just before heavy braking. Appearantly, I'm not the only one with this issue either. I can tell I'm close to the locking point but I'd still think the bias valve should be able to lock the rear when at max. Don't think heat is an issue on the rears...

Well, I've appearantly got a miata fetish... I picked up another today! It's a 93, some engine leakage but nothing major - $900. As crazy as it sounds, I'm trading the blue '91 (that needs some work) for a nice hard top. Then I'm also trading my gutted '89 Supra turbo for some paint/art work. My yard is starying to look like a junk yard and I need to clear some stuff out!
So this red '93 will become my street car, reason is I will have about everything to turbo it without going into the pocket book much. The '94 block machining is complete, need to order some supertechs and put it together... nonce that's done the current turbo setup and possible engine in the track car will go into this red one. Simplicity is nice sometimes.

Anyway, here's some pics - gotta get the track car checked and tuned as I have 6hrs of track time at Barber coming up Oct 15/16th.

So today was PBOC here at Barber. The 1st session I bedded in the new XP12s in the front... surface cracks on rotor, nothing out of the norm... until the 2nd session. While on track I managed to lock n smoke the right front into T1, ran off course and managed to get her under control in the paved runoff and get back on track. Ran a couple more laps after pit-in and thought I slightly flatspotted the Continental, then noticed the pulsing only under braking. It was end of session so I examined and found my right brembo cracked. Another crack was starting as seen in the pics. Was crazy - anyway, happened to have a spare OEM set so I installed those.
I ran the previous pads down to nothing a month ago with Chin, which is most likely where the heat stress was induced (even with brake ducting) and the underlying crack started? It certainly wasn't there when I put the new pads on first thing this morning. Time to order the BBK from 949 along with the Xidas.

And since the time change, it's dark around 5, so I red-necked in some running lights to help people see me creep up on there ***... if the big red dot wasn't enough! I velcroed in 5 simple led flashlights from homedepot! Haha, it worked just fine - cheap *** solution for someone who doesn't have any lights...

I'll have the vid posted of me going off course soon...
In the meanwhile, here's some from Chin when I was running the previous pads down to nothin'

Why is it that the embed code never works???

lol @ light setup, pretty slick. Definitely like watching your vids. Were you just following that white (spec?) miata in the 2nd vid or was he driving really well?

Yeah, I was just playing with him - he was my first instructor who runs SM. He's a really cool guy. Ryals racing - but yeah, he still pushes it harder into the turns than I do... which is what I was trying to learn from him.
