I think the sensor is bad or maybe the location of the sensor is bad. I need some thoughts on this. I'm running blind, logs show a stable 23-24psi but I would really like to monitor it in real time.

Also it looks like the denso ls3 car coils I have are limited. We are seeing misfire at 24psi, plugs are gaped at 0.035
Move the sensor to something direct on intake manifold.

Thats what I was thinking.

I'm pretty sure I'm right at 300HP now. Virtual dyno is a little off for me but going by my first real dyno and VD stats, I should be a 295hp and 274tq at the moment. Though without a real dyno pull its hard to say for sure.

So looks like we are done with tuning. I must thank Vlad/18psi for his hard work on my tune. So in the beginning I didn't know how to do proper logs, So I have bench dynoed the car here. The blue line was my pre tuning benchmark, I actually dynoed the car at the time, so I have real world numbers that verify that VD is close. So given that, on paper my car makes 313hp and 265lbs tq +/-?% I know that may not be 100% accurate but close enough. The car is awesome. If I want it to stay quiet and tame I simply stay off boost. If I want a monster, I let it go. The external wastgate makes it exciting! I get tire spin in the top of 2nd, 1st is a joke even with the 4.1 and a 5spd. I didn't run all the gears and I shift like a grandma. Vlad said countless times he is amazed the 5sp is still in the car, thats why. I go easy on it. I mean REAL easy. Anywho, weather or not the car makes 313hp? Its still a blast.

I got a chance to enjoy the car this weekend. A small group of us ran up to Mountain View for some curvy road driving. My car still looks like a mess but performance wise, it was great. My buddy brought his 2.5 swapped car that we just finished. He says its a big improvement over the 2l it came with.

If only I remembered to bring my go pro.

Pulls about as hard as my '02SE making ~300/270, but you should be making way, way more than that at 24psi. You're missing at least 60ft.lbs.

That's what I said, the car absolutely does not want to make more.
More timing = knock.
More boost = blowout/misfires.
It's a pretty dated setup on a really dated ecu

Me, too. It's an inspiration!

FWIW, I'm planning to pick up my rebuild in Spring with a goal of making MATG 2018.

My thoughts exactly, I had a smaller compressor when I ran a GT3271 and made 294whp @ 18psi. Seems like there is something amiss, but does pull nicely.

I thought it took a while lol, watch it take all winter to get the damage pulled and whole car painted.

I wish I had It, the motor does have about 20k on it if that maters at all. I figure at some point I will swap out some of my old tech for better stuff.

Dag, thats not bad at all. Do you have a build thread I can read? I'd like to know more about your set up.

So some genuine Coils, injectors from the current era and a retune? How bad can my dated ecu be? FM still uses them and man are they expensive new.

The car is pretty fast to me. I couldn't image having more power than whats there now. If there is some left on the table then maybe I can work toward that. either way I'm having fun surprising folks on my way to work.

I'm not sure what it is exactly that's holding the car back, so I wouldn't want to tell you to start throwing money at random parts. IMO the easiest way to pick up more power would be with proper fuel that would keep detonation down and allow us to up the timing and lean the afr's down. For which you'd need bigger/better injectors at least.

FWIW I made 300whp at something like 16psi, many years ago, on a very similar setup to yours with 1 major difference: e85.

I dont have a build thread for my old NA it was way back in 2006-2007 when I was running the GT3271. I dont want to clog your thread up that but if you have any questions you can PM me. I think you should get some ID 1000's and run e85. Running 24psi on pump gas is going to require you to run much less timing. Also e85 promotes a MUCH cooler combustion and you can run a little more lean and get away with it. E85 is basically like really cheap race gas that you can run every day, and is what Im going to use on my NB next year when I pull my stock motor and drop in a built engine.

I too am surprised your 5 speed is still living. I ran 300whp through a 5 speed (for years) but one day I was messing with a F430 and i rolled into it in 3rd gear and ripped every tooth off 3rd and I wasnt even abusing it, just going WOT in 3rd.

Also, I run a Hydra as well and no matter what anyone says it gets the job done. Its not like the MS3 is going to give you more power its probably just easier to live with. The Hydra is more than capable of mapping your car for spark and fuel just like a MS3.

Looks like there might be some gas stations w/ e85 to scope out in the area:
